BogyDave's post with the old 08 had me peekin' at Craigslist.

First up, an 07.

And then proof that the MS290 is overvalued and/or some people have no conscience.

When I was at my dealer today, he mentioned that the 290 is being discontinued due to EPA issues. He claimed its the #1 selling saw in both the US and worldwide. Better get one while you can if you want one, but not at that price. There was a mint one around here over the weekend for $300 with a case, but it was firm cash, didn't want to trade for firewood or ammo. :)

290s don't depreciate much around here either. Everyone seems to be selling ragged out saws for about the same price as new. What else do you expect...most people are getting ready to cut wood for the winter.

Not sure how Sandy impacted the Hudson Valley area but I'm guessing he's some Harry-Homeowner that bought it to clear a downed tree on his land. Now he's selling it cause he has no real reason to own a chainsaw and he's hoping somebody else desperate for a chainsaw will pay $500.

Maybe he just accidentally added an extra 0? A C

Lots of trees down but none of the flooding the NYC/LI/NJ areas saw.

AFAIK the MS290 is still in active production/distrubution here in the US. There is no real replacement out there yet either. I don't consider the MS291 to be an actual replacement for the 290 since the price point is way higher than the 290 is/was. My guess is that the MS250 and MS290 will be the last two saws to succumb to EPA emissions requirements. Both hold down the fort in the price/power category.

The MS290 is indeed the #1 seller and for good reason. Kinda the VW of saws. ;lol

Used one day = brand new?

Brand new to me means never used!

$500? WOW he's hallucinating.For that much scratch you can usually get a nice 372,288,044/440,046/460,sometimes even a 066/660 or 394/395.

All of these are wayyy more than the average homeowner has a need/use for.

There's gonna be a lot if 'used one day' saws around there. Be some generators for sale, too.

No comments on the 07. Good. I'm gonna buy it, then. that's a badass saw. (wish I had some $$)

Maybe he would be willing to trade for my 979.99 cent "box O rocks"? I may need a little boot though ;)
