Who has not ran an ounce of gas yet?

Oil-filled elect heater in the bedroom at night set on low with thermo at 63 (doesn't come on much).
High-eff gas furnace comes on most mornings for a quick warm-up. I turn it off, start a fire & go to work. House is toasty by the time the time the wife & babe get up.
Gas for hot water & cooking too. Still, gas & electric combined is much less than half of the cellular bill

About time to start burning some better wood. So far have only burned Basswood & Silver Maple. Elm is on deck. 2+ year Red Oak & Mulberry are in the bull-pen.

I run the furnace a couple times a day when it gets cold. I cant heat the whole house especially having to work.

That is a good bull-pen line up you have there midwestcoast!

100% wood heat for me as well. We have a propane furnace but I am not going to use it this winter. I had to use it for 3 days last winter but I was out of town. Since I am not going anywhere this year i am not anticipating I'll have to use it. Electric for DHW and lights.

hasnt run yet this year, I turned turn it "on" and set it to go on if the temp inside drops below 58, but that has yet to happen and ill try my damdest to keep it from happening. A little worried I may be short on seasoned wood this year tho.

you can always go to pellets and the stove will run itself............

It's easy not to run the furnace when the oil tank is empty.

I'll refill it when oil dips... at some point.

No oil yet - probably just run it when we get back from being away for a few weekends here and there. Still have to see how the castine will keep up in the coldest weather we get here since last winter I don't think it got below 15F - may have to burn some oil if it gets down to single digits later on. But I seriously hope not.

NG for water heater and cook stove, none for heating the house. I probably ought to do a function check on the furnace though just in case. Furnace hasn't run since some time early last December.

I run Propane for the garage heater , cooking ,and the on demand water heater . I test My house furnace in October , then it sits for the year . The last time it ran to heat the House was in '08 when We visited relatives over Christmas . I fill up the tank about every year .

No gas as we are all electric.
The only electric increase we have added is the floor fan blowing toward the stove room...come to think of it, since we shut off the de-humidifier in the basement our bill has decreased over the last two months

100% wood here! We have oil backup, but ain't even turning on the thermostat unless we will be gone over 10 hours. Last time I bought oil was november 2011, and I only bought a 1/2 tank, and guess what, still have a 1/2 tank! Be warm!

Not for heat or hot water. Haven't use any gas for those purposes since Oct. 2011.

Not quite 100%, prolly 75 % or so. New trane electric runs while we're at work, set on 64. I rake the coals and open the flue up in the AM before i leave. May throw a split on also. Short commute keeps electric to a minumum. Stove back up by 430.

Pellets during the day, wood at night. I did turn the furnace on to make sure it would run in case the pellet stove goes out or we go out of town. This is the third year with no oil delivery and there is still a half tank left. Most of that was used the first year after it was filled.

Got a propane fill last week for DHW, dryer, stove, & backup heat. Fit 75 gal in the 500 gal tank. Last fill was in March @ 60 gal. The LP backup is just that, back up only to be used in dire emergency, like my death or something more serious. Couple weeks back my wife figure we've saved around 10K in the years we've been heating 100% wood, sooooooo......... I bought another saw.( I really need to get a life ) A C

Nothing here, use gas for my water heater. Once it gives out I will probably switch to electric to saw the flat fee I pay the gas company. I have a gas furnace that I use to push air around for a/c but don't have a gas line hooked up to it.

Tested the heat pump last night for the first time this year...it ran twice and it was 32f outside. Weather is going to warm up again soon so not had a single fire this season... Gets up to 60f really fast during the day and then drops steady...house stays too warm to fire up the stove yet... Electricity is cheap for now and I will have more wood stored up for next season...

i use gas for dryer and hot water, and i have only run the furnace just for a test for leaks - all was well. Also for the record I am still mostly only burning the uglies - will finish today or tommorrow. we have thrown in full size splits for overnights..

I burn some propane to make DHW, but the furnace has sat stone cold for a couple years now.

Burning a ton of wood so far this year with the new baby in the house and all...but I think I'll make it through the winter (18-20 cord c/s/s)

I'm considering getting a wood boiler for next season, so maybe I can get by with no propane in the winter months.

About 5 years since its been run for heat. I check it in the Fall and Spring. Just in case we leave the house for an extended time. ... Only use LP for cooking. This November marks year 3 since my last LP fill, and still just below 40%.

Using wood and pellets in my battle.... When the 500 gallon tank is empty, I will be getting a 100 gallon and getting it filled myself. As I am tired of the $20 rental fee and $99 "No usage" fee (both are yearly fees).

Very Little gas for heating. I mostly use the wood and pellet stove. Sometimes when we are out all day and return and the house is 62 i run the furnace for 5 to 10 minutes just to warm up my sons room. He has asthma and his room heats up quickly. But other than that, wood and Pellets here. Even drying clothes we mostly use the stoves to air dry the laundry.

i used the oil a couple of days becasue the wife wasn't feeling well and i was gone for to long to keep it going

Heat is not turned on yet. Propane furnace makes hot water year 'round. I'll set the thermostats in the low 60s when we it gets a little colder. The stove can't keep up when temps drop into the teens. I think I'll wait until I hear complaints before the heat goes on this year.
