used 361

Knock $50 outta that and I'd be interested! Although it is going to cost him $30 to ship that thing.

I picked mine up for $300 and it had a new chain and fairly new yellow dot bar

Seams like a reasonable deal to me. I paid more then double that for mine new. Not sure how much the arctic version added to my price though.

For the record, the last price I saw for a 361-20" at the dealer before it was discontinued was $609.

When they first came out I got my first 361 from a dealer new for $509 out the door. I picked up many used ones for $300-400. Good saw for a fair price there though. They were last listed here for $649 when they were discontinued.

Probably. Considering you could have gotten this one from MA, shipped to you for $400. It looks good, and has a good length bar for the saw.

As for your rebuilt saw, it depends on what they used for parts, and what/how it was rebuilt. If it was all OEM parts and rebuilt right, you may be OK. If they used a typical aftermarket Chinese engine kit expect half the hours out of it before it konks out. OEM/Mahle engines really do last 2x longer. I would get a good used OEM P&C and put in new rings long before messing with a new China kit.

I never buy rebuilt saws for that reason, unless they are rebuilt by a shop or someone that knows what they are doing. I also rarely buy modified saws either, even from some better builders out there. I buy scored and tired saws, as I can rebuild them myself. You also do not know what or why they failed. Low end issues are expensive and it is a real bear to split the cases on these saws, and if you have to replace the bearings, you are hosed. Top ends (piston, cylinder and rings) are easy to replace and fix.

Personally, I prefer my 036 pro to the 361, that's at the very top end for price, & as S H pointed out, you've no idea on what's in it, or who worked on it. A C

I paid a hair over $600 for mine (with 18" ES bar) several years ago - brand new. $500 is a tad high IMO, especially if OEM parts were not used.

The company I bought from only repairs saws. They at least said OEM parts are used when they are available. If I over paid; it comes with a thirty day guarantee so I can send it back. They said it has 170 psi and no leak at 10 psi over an hour. We learn as we go, before I invest in other toys, oops tools I'll check hear first. Thanks for the information.

Sounds like you have a solid saw, not much to say "oops" about...good running 361's are worth every penny IMO. Enjoy it!
