10 CPM burnpot overfilling

This is the second morning of waking up to find the burnpot on my 10 CPM overfull. The stove was purchased this past summer as a refurb. Bottom settings are 1-4-1, OAK installed, and up until now has been running fine. It's burned about 25 bags of corinth pellets which have been burning well. I've been cleaning per the manual recommendations. After looking around the site this problem usually means an air flow issue - Nothing is obstructing the OAK and yesterday I cleaned the burnpot, removed the cradle and cleaned all around that, removed and cleaned behind the heat exchangers which weren't very dirty. The pellets are from the same batch/pallet. Today I guess I'll try to clean the vent although I can't imagine it being that bad after only 25 bags or so....any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
 
Per the manual this is a list of possible causes for this problem;
1. Control board settings
2. Bad exhaust blower
3. Excessive pellet moisture
4. Excessive ash
5. Low quality pellets
6. Flue or intake is restricted.
7. Glass door not shut and
sealed tightly.
8. Ash removal plates are
not pushed completely in.
9. Exhaust fan is not running
or stove not venting
properly.
10. Moisture content above
15%.
11. Blockage inside stove and
exhaust pipes.
12. Feed rate is too high for
fuel.
13. Inadequate combustion air
available.

After reading this - any chance pellets are picking up moisture being stored in my garage? Also the past couple nights the humidity outside has been high - as I write this it is 90% - any chance the outside air humidity is the cause?
 
Had the same issue - see my post "10 CPM Black Glass ...". I took forum advise and cleaned the stack, took off the back and vacuumed the blowers (I didn't remove them but vacuumed the intakes). Don't know what it was that worked but it is now running like new, Your problem is most likely an air restriction somewhere.
 
Yes definately an airflow issue in the combustion process. Give her a complete cleaning...vent included and double check door gasket, hopper gasket, and ashpan closure and gasket.

I've burned some really crummy pellets on 1-4-1 without any "problems". The burn is less than ideal, the heat is poor, etc., but my CPM always burns them complete.

After a thorough cleaning and run through of gaskets, etc., it is possible you might have to give these pellets more air by adjusting LBA. You want a lively flame with a blue base and yellow to white tips. If it's orange and lazy it's not getting enough air.

I think the pellets would have to have direct contact with water for the moisture to be a problem and I don't believe outside humidity will effect your burn.

Keep us posted. With proper install and maintenance your CPM will burn any pellet.

Perhaps some install details will help also. Describe that as we have some members here who can pinpoint problems very quickly with just install pictures and descriptions.

Sounds like exactly the same problem - even down to almost the same amount of bags burned. I re-cleaned this am did the dollar bill test on the door gasket (passed) checked the other gaskets, brushed past the door busters at Home Depot and bought a leaf blower and did the leaf blower trick on the venting/exhaust. There was a lot more crud in there than I was expecting - fired the stove back up and I appear to have happy yellow dancing fire. The true test will be what it looks like tomorrow am but I'm hoping I got it.
 
As mentioned above, be absolutely sure that the stove and the ENTIRE exhaust & OAK system is clean. If this also means removing the combustion blower to check it's condition, then do so. A full burnpot is a CLASSIC sign of a dirty stove.

When you had the ash trap doors removed for the cleaning, did you also remove the "brick" backboard and bang on the steel back wall with a small hammer to dislodge all the crud?

Have you tried the leaf blower trick?

After that, try raising the lower 3 button settings to 1-6-1 and see if that helps. Although I don't know where you're located, it might also help to go buy a new bag of another brand that is considered "reliable" on this forum (Barefoot, Turmans, Stove Chow, Somersets, Greene Team, Cubex, etc, etc, etc).

I did remove the backboard and bang, I just did the leaf blower trick about an hour ago - there was a fair amount of crud - doing a test burn now and the fire looks happy - hoping the leaf blower solved the problem. I'm in Maine - I did buy a couple bags of Maine woods this morning, they have burned well for me before. So far though things are looking good - I'll know for sure tomorrow morning.
