Whats up with these strange new gas cans ??

You're the only one I've heard of doing that Nate. (With the No-Spill brand cans anyway, the other brands, yes, gas everywhere!) What caused the spill, lack of visibility? The can didn't shut off when you release the button? Honestly, I would use one of these over the old plain jane plastic cans for small equipment, and no, Jill didn't pay me to say that! ()

Only the 1.25 gal and 2.5 gal ones have the stripe, 5 gallon does not and the older 1.25/2.5 gal cans do not. They are otherwise identical.
 
The No Spill cans are great. I have a Blitz I will try the modification on this weekend and report back on.

Dang BrotherBart! After watching that video I headed right out to the garage and sure enough, one of my useless currently empty 5 gallon cans was a Blitz with the flat spot. I had everything I needed right there in front of me all this time on the workbench. Grabbed a spare valve stem out of a drawer, the 1/2 bit for the drill, the piece of coat hanger wire always hanging there by the hammers, and presto, I had it done in under 10 minutes! The only improvements to technique I would suggest was drilling the hole "upside down" to let the chips all fall to the floor, and reaming the inside of the hole with the little Stihl bar cleaning tool. The little hook on the end of it was perfect for sweeping the inside edge of the drilled hole to make sure no significant flaps of plastic were hanging there. Unfortunately, the other cans that I have are of a different design and did not lend themselves to this technique. You just got a 5 star "Best Post Award" from me! MasterMech gets and honorable mention for the captivating jugs video :p.

A lot of good info here.
I have two old identical 1 gal plastic cans with a good spout and a cap, but the mice chewed the vent caps off and part of the stub the caps went on, I use em but can't transport, cuz of spillage.
A couple of valve stems will fix em right up :cool:

I may have to get a no spill to , I almost always overfill my leaf blower

i picked up a couple of the 'no-spill' cans and they work the best of anything i've used so far.

bailey's sells 'em and so does my local saw shop

I've seen that video. I can make sliced bread look inconvenient on Youtube. :rolleyes: Welcome to the modern internet age.

That's one can in many thousands. Also not typical of my experience with the product or anybody I know that also owns one. Who knows, the thing is probably missing the gasket for the spout and the guy is too busy whining about the child lock to recognize he's missing parts.:confused:
 
No-Spill redesigned their cap system. It no longer has those double wings. My 1-1/4 gallon can has never leaked.
