No it's not. I think I'd get someone in there that knows what they're doing before your house burns down. These guys obviously don't have a clue if they used gas pipe initially, and then gave you the install that you ended up with.

She said see not smell so lets see if that smoke is actually indoors or can be seen from indoors and is outside.

Can you smell that smoke and exactly where is it coming from?

She said in the living room, so I took it that way. If it's outside, not an issue.

The smoke is actually IN the house. I can't see where it's coming from. You just end up seeing it after a little while and it seems to go away after a while.

Mommyof4,

A small amount of smoke is produced as the igniter heats up the pellets past their ignition temperature. Once that occurs the smoke is actually burned off and doesn't occur again until shutdown.

If you smell it in the house then you have to locate where it is coming from and if it is the venting seal it if it is from outside then you have to locate where it comes in and seal that.

A really fast ignition produces no smoke to speak of. It requires a good strong igniter and plenty of air flow to have a fast ignition.

ETA: Just to hammer on this a bit harder if the smoke is inside the house you must find out where it is coming from and seal it. Where there is smoke there is other combustion byproducts all of which you don't want in the house ever.

Can you please tell me if this is a big issue? I've had so many issues with our contractors that I am about to burst.

Anchors are better and will last longer. IMO the support in the pic below is bolted right to the studs in the wall. This will not only hold up the pipe but also stand the test of time when the stove is pulled out for servicing. The wall plate can be painted the same color as the wall to blend in better too.

I hate to say it but you need to redo the exhaust of this stove from the start. Your smoke is probably at the appliance adapter, the first peice of pipe on the stove. The best way to find where the smoke is coming from is with the lights off and use a flashlight.

I'm going to have redo it all tomorrow morning. It's too expensive to keep failing inspections.

I dont know if youll need a short peice outside but if you need one i have a new spare you can have and im less than an hour from Maryland. If your using pellet vent pro pipe and need an extension just send me a pm and its yours.

While trying to find the smoke I noticed this wet spot. Can anyone tell me what it is?

Thank you very much! I will let you know tomorrow if I need it. My contractors better buy all the parts since we already paid. Lol

That first peice is crooked as all heck and maybe not on the entire way.

Yep boosted3g you are correct and that spot could be just about anything. The reason I wanted to know what was above it is sometimes motors will leak lubricant (that is what happened to my first combustion blower when new) the spot was oil in my case.

It does feel like oil.

There is supposed to be even gap there and the adapter is supposed to be as far back towards the stove as it can go.

Oh and I don't see any sealant and I do see signs of exhaust leakage and there doesn't appear to be any screws and there must be (3 of them to be precise).

If you look close at the last pic the first elbow connected to the riser does not appear to be on completely.

It is common to have a bit of smoke at startup.

To reduce it you need a good igniter and plenty of air flow.
Smokey, If your refering to post 45, Re read. She sees smoke in her living room. Shouldnt see or smell smoke in the house

.....if the smoke is inside the house you must find out where it is coming from and seal it.....
Holy crap Smokey....how many times does she have to say she saw smoke IN THE HOUSE???

Bottom line is that the install is a disaster and it needs to be re-done by a qualified person....not a general contractor who used gas pipe to start with.

Mommyof4, you need to stop using the stove right now, if you are concerned about carbon monoxide poisoning at all. That exhaust is so bad it needs to be taken apart and re-installed by someone qualified.

Do you make your own holes in the exhaust part from the stove (that's part of the stove)? Screw right into it?

We've stopped using it since we learned it was not done correctly.
