Hey all, I have some trees that came down with Sandy and I'm now getting around to cutting them up. Since all the leaves have fell I'm not sure what I have here. I think there are two different trees here. Any ideas, I'm in CT.

I've labeled them A and B, maybe there's more than two species here? These are just the smaller branches that I've cut.

Thanks IMG_0526.JPG

Look like mostly branches. Hard to tell from limbs. Oak leaf next to "B"

Some pics of the end grain & face of a few splits from some bigger rounds may help.

Either way it's all BTU's :)

The small branch to the right of "A" looks like Cherry or Black Birch-it has that reddish-tint to it.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I know they're just branches but just wanted to make sure it was ok to burn before I start cutting the the big stuff. I usually burn anything in my fireplace (except pine), but now that I have an insert on the way I want to make sure if there's anything I shouldn't be burning in it.

If b is shad berry it's on top of the BTU scale.
Nothing wrong with pine, if seasond, and in a stove/insert.
Not so good in an open fireplace, too many spark's
