Corinth must have changed an awful lot since I last burn them.!!!

I love the detailed write up on Turman. The last few lines are great.

Be prepared to hunt for these pellets, as they are no longer a well kept industry secret. Why are Turman Wood Pellets so darn good? It all comes down to the high quality of the raw materials used in the production process. Remember that the Turman Company is a hardwood flooring manufacturer that produces wood pellets for the sole purpose of disposing the sawdust generated in their hardwood flooring facility. This is the only 100% Oak wood pellet in the industry and Turman wood pellets are the industry's reigning champion! If you are not burning Turman Wood Pellets, it's probably because you have never tried them before. Be prepared to spend a tad more for these little darlings, but in the end, youll be glad that you did. If you have been having trouble burning other brands of pellets, try Turman. And if burning these gems don't solve your problems, then simply throw your stove into the lake! They are that good.

They put vermonts at second rate.... wish they provided the criteria they used to judge.

Don't know how accurate this site is, of the 18 brands they say are available in NY not one of them are Somersets! I'm sitting on 2 tons and expecting another 2 on Friday.

Gee...uumm,I have to disagree on the Maine choices.
They rated Geneva at the top...not sure what they base the tests on but i bought 15 bags this fall...used 11,then switched to my MWP softs....which are far better,which...i didnt see any mention of or even the blend, which alot of people up here use now!
No mention of Northeast....Spruce Pointes...not bitchin, just saying..its not a complete test, some brands i never heard of,maybe in the southern part of the state?????

Interesting pellets shown for NH, would like to know where to find some, and some noticeable abscences. I got thru my first year using jtakeman's site for guidance and testing what I could get my hands on in my stove. It worked well and while I will review everything for info, I do not agree with some of there likes and dislikes. IMHO.

Thanks for posting the link.

They are consistent across all the states with their dislike for Greene Team, which I totally disagree with. A little ashy but a pretty good pellet. Better than some they "like".

Let me start by saying that Turman is one of the best, if not the best, pellet I've burned and I have over a half ton for the really cold spells. That being said, I'm not sure why this site and CT Pellets say that they are 100% oak. They may have been oak in the past but now they say they are 100% Kiln Dried Appalachian Hardwood. I actually saw on some other sites that had 100% oak listed too but if you're doing a write up on them, at least get the information correct.

Post a picture of the bag please. The batch I have does say 100% Oak and I too have been claiming them as an all oak pellet. I know the flooring business has slowed way down and they have been struggling to get enough in-house fiber to make enough to fill the orders. Supplies have been limited lately because of it.

Wonder if they decided to start adding other fiber to the mix because of this? Hopefully its an in-house fiber or we might see quality start to drop. Any time a mill hits the open(3rd party) market things seem to change. Sure hope this isn't the case. IMHO oak is about the cleanest fiber of the hardwoods. We might see the ash levels go up slightly.

Have you burned any of the new stuff yet?

Here is a pic of what I have....no longer days Oak. I am getting good heat and ash is low but heavy....need ti stir my pot every once in a while. 2012-11-27_08-27-29_779.jpg

Jay...I can tell you that I burn the Appalachian Hardwood blend and it burns CLEAN...there really is next to no ash, so whatever blend they have going on it's excellent....They other thing I can tell you is the Somersets are a VERY close second to the Turman so buy lots!!!

That kinda tells me they are staying with the in-house fiber! Thats a good thing IMHO. I bet there is still a good percentage of oak in the mix too.

Newbu
Hey Paul, where did you get the Somersets?
Newburgh Lowes, give em a call. If what they said on the phone is correct then Wednesday(tomorrow) they ave a truck coming in of all Somersets!

Also if you're within 80 miles they will deliver for $65 flat fee no matter how many you order.

Nice. I probably wouldn't get a delivery as I already have a decent stash of Green Supremes (very average) and only burn less than a ton per season....but I might take a drive for 6 or 7 bags

should we tell them that Northern and Cubex are the same?
cool read

Supposedly Geneva Wood Fuels is making two different pellets.
Their Geneva branded pellets are a Super Premium(which is what's listed for the review).
Their Maine's Choice branded pellets are just regular Premium.
