Laughing aside, thanks for running those numbers. I'm having similar issues with our bedroom being the coldest and furthest away from the stove. We were planning to use an electric heater as supplemental heat for the coldest nights. You just confirmed it for us. And we already have electric blankets. Not a fan.

$1.60 x 30 days =$48= 12 bags of pellets. Turn up the dial and heat with the stove. Just sayin'

For the heck of it i ran that heater in the bedroom for an hour and raised the temp by 2 degrees 65 to 67

so it cost me 20 cents to help accomplish what i been trying to do with 3 fans running?

So even if i was to run this heater 8 hours while sleeping a whopping 1.60 ?
it has a 750 watt setting and that would be .80 cents
im thinking this is a better option to get the chill off then installing the 2nd stove and cost of pellets

would love to hear some feedback

Electric space heaters are very efficient for small spaces when the option is to heat a much larger space so the small space is comfortable. I would doubt that it would run for eight hours straight but would cycle with the thermostat so it would be even cheaper than the numbers you are quoting.

It would be hard to justify another stove but by raising the temp in the other parts of the house a few degrees at night could help. Since I got my stove I've been big into making Dutch doors , keeps the dogs out and lets the heat in

Why did you choose the electric fireplace over a regular space heater? Is it just the looks?
A space heater cost less, does the same wattage.
Just curious.
I use one of these in my bedroom, and it can cook me out even with my no insulation, and poor windows that I have.

Thats what I want to make for my bedroom, Any tips on how to make the dutch doors..

30x30 is 900 square ft. Not a small area! More than a 120 volt 15 amp(5200 btu) is recommended to handle.

Well pellets do have a fairly decent insulating factor with the trapped air and bags. If you got more and just stacked them around the outside walls (especially the winders) cause they lose a lot of heat. I bet you would only be a few hot flashes away from warm and toasty.

Remove the center hinge and cut in half (take out the pin first).reinstall the hinge and mark the door at the cut in hinge I put masking tape on the door first it helps with splintering. now make a second line 7/8" below the last one and score both lines with a razor knife. remove the door and center hinge and cut the door in half. cut to the waste side of each line. the 7/8" you removed will be just right for a 1x4 board of your choosing. cut the board lenght to the width of the door and radius the 2 inside corners. overhang the shelf board 1/8" on the jamb side and glue and finish nail it to the bottom half of the door( you may have to remove a little material where the shelf contacts the jamb strips). If you have hollow core doors you'll have to cut filler blocks plug the door ends. This sounds so much more complicated than I remember, the next one I do I'll take pictures.

I honestly don't think your winning yet, Wait until it gets really cold out. Yeh its cold now, But it does get a bit colder! So you 'll need more BTU's if this is just keeping up at this temp IMHO.

We run a small oil filled heater in my daughters room as that is at the far end of the house. Keeps her room about 67 or so. We run it on low, set at 3 out of 6 on the thermostat. Just enough to take the chill off. Beats a fan blowing down the hallway all night long. Without the heater it stays around 64 back there.

You can do it with the electric, Just need a larger source. Maybe a couple strips of baseboard. More will use more $$$ though.

Or you could sell both the stoves and get the big ol' pellet furnace. Just sayin(as smoke would say)!
