Hi guys
I was hoping you may be able to help me out. I recently had my chimney cleaned and I noticed that the front air tubes on my Jotul 500 we not put in place. In trying to fix it, I got the 2 front ones back in, but the last, smaller tube, closest to the back is still out. For the life of me, I can't seem to get this back in place. I understand I need to basically line up the hole in the tube like the other 2, but it does not want to go. What I mean is once I line it up and try to put the cover back on, it pops back out. Sorry for not explaining it correctly, but if anyone has experience on how to get this tube back in, it would be great.

The easiest way to go about this is to remove the top. It is held in place with 3 10mm bolts. One back center and two in the front. You should be able to get to all three through the front door. Once you do remove the baffle assembly. This will allow you to get all three burn tubes reinstalled. The top has gasket so you wont have to reseal it, but the manifolds to the burn tubes should be cemented back into the 2 ports in the rear of the stove.

Thanks so much! So, when you mention removing the top, do you mean the oval top plate or the entire top of the stove? Also, I noticed on the "tube holder" when I took it out, a lot of what looked like cracked cement fell. Is this the stuff you mentioned? Is this something I can buy at my local store?

You will need to remove the entire top to remove the baffle assembly aka "tube holders". The thee bolts referred to are holding it. IIRC, there are 2 10mm bolts, 1 per side, on the baffle assembly. The assembly is cemented in place as well, and yes this is likely where the cement you're seeing came from. After you take one side apart or both you can put all the tubes back in. Then you'll want to clean off the old and re-cement the assembly in place. You can get furnace cement at most hardware stores.

Be sure when to put the top back on it's seated correctly. It's easy to get it a little out of alignment which would make for one big air leak.
