Woodchuck Timberjack - 48" Handle Any One Use It?

I have the Woodchuck quad . I bought it from Baileys when they were on sale . It is a very well made tool . I probably could have gotten away with the timberjack , but I wanted the gimmick features of the quad . I had a chance to use it this weekend and it was helpful for getting the wood off the ground to cut up .

I finally succeeded in giving ours away. The most useless tool I've ever had.

No, not a peavey. A cant hook is what you need.

I agree Dennis, I found it to be more trouble then it was worth. Went and dug my cant hook out of the shed and put the timberjack there in its place. Someone had given it to me, glad I hadn't made a investment in it.

I put one of these on my cant hook.
Will see if it works out for the type of cutting i do.
Have yet to use it.

Some Info here, Is a cant hook, or peavey, a must have tool ?

I had a stihl (aka logrite) 48" cant hook in my hand the other day at the stihl dealer. Definitely well built, hope santa puts one in his sleigh this year!

Maybe Im in the minority here, but I was given a Woodchuck (the model on sale at Baileys right now) and I really like it. I use it like a cant hook for just rolling logs around, and its good at keeping stuff out of the dirt/snow when bucking up the last few pieces. Plus they are made here in the states and had great customer service (it was shipped without the feet, they apologized and sent them next day, no questions asked).

I know Peavy is USA made too, and I wouldnt hesitate to use their products. I just think that the woodchuck works pretty well too.

Nope, never seen a golden woodchuck. Pretty neat. They're much darker here, and sometimes the older ones get a little silver in their coats. I like to greet them with a 17HMR as often as I can.

Dennis, what kind of Timberjack did you end up giving away?

Dennis I found the Timberjack you were referring to on another thread, and it was a wooden handle Timberjack. The reason I was curious is that I have a Woodchuck Timberjack and I have also had one like you gave away, and there is no comparison.

Good to hear there's an explanation for the poor reviews in this thread. A buddy has a Woodchuck model and says it worked fantastic. I've seen it in person and agree that it's well made compared to all the other timberjacks I've seen, which I would consider gimmicky.
