Hello!

Was wondering if anyone knows about Harman pellet stoves? I have a Harman Invincible pellet stove that has been working for several years but now will not shut down in the off mode.

1.) Turn control pot to off
2.) fire throttles way back into the throat
3.) Stove cools down.
4.) Auger feeds the slightest amount of pellets, just enough to keep it barely going.

Looking for ideas before I purchase a board?

I would think that maybe the computer has figured out your heat loss and is maybe running so low to keep the +/- 1 or 2 degrees that Harman advertises it can do.

I would start by cleaning the ESP if you haven't already. If that doesn't correct it, contact these folks, reasonable costs for repair of the circuit board. Another option, wire in a mini-toggle switch to turn the auger off when the need to service the stove. Remove one wire from the vac switch, connect it to one side of this switch, connect the other side of the switch back to the vac switch. When the switch is in the off position, the auger will not feed any pellets.

Before you did all that, I would cut the power and wait ten minutes or so and turn it back on. That should reset everything. If it still won't shut down then, the proceed with other options.

It's probably a dirty or failed "pot". (Potentiometer) on the board. Try turning it slightly either side of the off position and see if the status light goes out. If it does, the stove should shut down. What year is the stove and have you ever put a board in it?

Sounds like a worn pot. If your handy you can get them off ebay very cheap or send the board off to repair. I have a newer stove with a pot thats screwy when turned all the way to the stop on room temp making all the lights blink. Spring repair as runs great as long as we remember to not turn all the way to the stop.

Invincibles don't have the igniter. I suspect this is an older stove.

I wasn't sure about that when I posted. Not familiar with Harman's other than the P series, but I took a shot in the dark.

If you have the earlier Invincible T model (vs the later RS), it has a Manual Feed Adjuster knob which must be turned clockwise all the way to a hard stop for shut down. This prevents any further pellets from feeding into the auger from the hopper. When you push the shut down button, the auger will turn for a few seconds every minute or so, in order to clear the pellets in the auger. This will continue for up to a couple of hours. It sounds like either you're not turning the Manual Feed Adjuster knob far enough clockwise, or it has somehow become disconnected. Either way, pellets would continue to drop from the hopper each time the auger engaged for the short intervals during the shut down sequence.

This one is the RS version. So here is what I have done so far.

1.) Changed the ESP with a new one.

2.) Changed the pots to new ones.

Restarted

3.) Turned to OFF position. Status light changed state from ON to OFF.

4.) Waited but machine still did not shut down. ??

I am beginning to believe the board is bad?
