i was pleasantly surprised with the GS...really good heat and low ash. I did notice that I had to give them a bit more air to burn good, and they do start harder....changed my settings from 6-4-1 to 4-4-1. get more life out of the hopper too. like em alot

I have to say other than a slight smell given off when they burn they seem to run well. They light up fast and I was unable to stand in front of the stove very long without getting burned by the high temps coming from the fan. Average amount of ash I think.

We are getting some peeps that say "pretty good" and some that say "meh"! I still think we are seeing mill variance. Jaffery NEWP/GS's could be a better run than the other plants? Or maybe the new Depot mill is the good stuff.

I bought a bunch last spring and they were pretty decent. Then I picked up a dozen bags this fall and they were a big disapointment from what I saw in the spring heat wize(ash was pretty close). I didn't save any of the bags so I can't help with the what/where/why's! ;em

If they weren't hit or miss IMHO, I'd be more into getting more. With the other boxstore/ lower priced pellet dealer stuff like Pres-to-logs/FSU/MWP and PowerHouse being a bit more stable. I think thats what I am looking to use to replentise supplies after the holidays.

yep, thats why i made sure to include these are from last year. no doubt about high ash though

I just saw the Presto-Logs at a Stratford HD. Think they are better than GS?

For me and my stove, Yes. They are doing very well. Heat is outstanding and ash is just a bit higher. If your stove is ash sensitive? Prolly best to try before you buy.

My beast eats anything!

Hey Eatonpcat,
Do you have pic of that M55 cast insert you have? I was going to purchase the FS model if I hadn't come across the one I own now. Nice looking stove and it must be a brute of a heat producer?

I think I will be picking up a few bags to try it out.

I got these things in there now and that thing is roasting. Granted its on high and eating pellets but its hot
One thing i have noticed is out of any pellet i have burned so far GS has always given me the longest run time per hopper full. So i think that pretty much says the feed rate may need a little bump if you want heat out of these things. These are last years pellets for the record.
I wonder if they changed the "recipe" from last year?? I just bought several bags and have the auger speed at 3 of 9 and they are hot w/ large clean flame!
