Hey Guys,

Just had a Honey Bear insert given to me by a friend. I couldn't wait to set it up properly so I just did the slam install...

Working fine for now, but I want to clean the chimney well and drop a liner and block off plate. Problem is the flue on the stove is rectangular.

Outside dimensions 5 3/8 x 10 1/2
Inside dimensions 4 7/8 x 10

To complicate things more, my chimney flue is 6 1/2 x 11 making me want to drop a 6 inch liner down which would be smaller than the math says I should. Anyone ran a Honey Bear on a 6 inch flue?

Any suggestions on where to get an adapter to connect the liner to the stove?

Thanks for your input!

Google search "Fireplace Insert Boot"

When the fire's out, measure the width, depth , and height of firebox. (with brick) We can only compare firebox size to a Grandma and Grandpa (8" outlet) that we know works with a 6 inch.
I'll measure a Papa Bear firebox that uses a 6" flue to compare with your cubic inches as well.
Math comes out to 8" round to match your outlet..... Codes technically don't allow reduction in size, but there are many 8" Fireplace Series stoves reduced to 6" working for years.

That Insert heats up to 1200 sf, the same as a Honey Bear Freestanding stove that uses 6".

Should only be a smoke spillage issue when opening doors. As long as you open the air to get it drafting, and open doors slowly, it probably won't be a problem.
