One Ton Down The Hopper

Just passed the one ton mark here too. Last of the MWP blend burned up today. Came home to a cold stove, so cleaned tonight and in went some Firesides.

I'm right around 40 bags. Last night was one of the coldest around here so far, but my house was a toasty warm 72 degrees........ahhhhhhh, luv a da pellets

im on bag 40 and 41 atm, been running since it was installed oct 29, so I think Im doin pretty good!

bag 30 for me.

Only 32 bags as of yesterday. Wife likes it cool. Me? I want 70, she wants it 65. Last year we burned just over a ton for the season. Cheap heating season!

Well, you got it half right! If I move, it will be to some place where I don't need to think about pellets or snow. The two oldest moved to Atlanta, the youngest just finished college and she stayed in NH. If she moved with her brother and sister, it would have been an easy decision for us. I guess I'll start doing research on OH! LOL!!

So this leaf blower trick..... Think a shop vac hooked up to the exhaust would do the trick? My combustion blower started making noise this morning, like it's seized up.

I use my shop vac while using the linteater and it works well for me. If the combustion blower is truly seized though a leaf blower or shop vac won't fix that.

Well, I shut it down as I was on my way to work this morning. Didn't really get a chance to look at it closely. Just judging from the sound, it wasn't spinning. I won't know if it's truly seized or just stuck until I can take it apart tonight. It's only 3 months old though, so it better not be seized!

If it was still burning when you shut it down? Its prob not seized up?

If there was no combustion air, the stove would lose vacuum and shut down.

At the time I turned it off, it was burning. However, that fan only runs when the stove is starting up and after you shut it down until it cools (if I recall correctly). Although, maybe I just can't hear it when the convection fan is blowing also.

Sequence of events was:
-stove burned all night
-pressed power button
-auger stopped, lights went off on control panel (not all, but the feed rate lights turned off)
-a few seconds later it sounded like the convection fan tried to start and couldn't

/shrug. I'll know more in a few hours when I get home I guess.

The combustion blower runs the entire time the stove is on. From start up, until stove is cool enough to shut down

The convection blower starts up after the stove gets up to temp.

If the stove was running. The combustion blower is not locked up.

The noise may have been a rattle (steel) or vibration of sorts? If the flame isnt as it should be (lively) and it continues to make joise, I would definitely call the dealer. At only 3 months old? I wouldn't touch it.

Should hit the one ton mark around Christmas Day - number 42 just went in today.
