So I have been burning some lately, but not much due to a off and on problem you all are aware of. So first thing today called Regency and spoke to the tech support about the exhaust gasket. He said oh If you are getting smells, remove the gakets and fluff them up a little. After thanking him and hanging up, I called another dealer that was highly reccommended to me. When he answered I told him I was having a problem with the regency gc60 pellet stove, and had a few questions for him. He stopped me and said sorry I do not sell regency products there at the bottom of the barell, and you can not get parts for them. I said okay, but one more question. He said sure what is it. I said you sell Enviro correct. He said yes there a great stove. I busted out laughing and said sorry but do you realize the gc60 and the m55 are the same stove, just diffrent badge. They are both made by sherwood industries. He got quiet and said Oh I learned something new today. I really am starting to believe that some stove owners are more educated then the dealers. Not all so no dealers here take offense to that statement, but you know what I mean.

remove the gaskets and fluff them up?

;lol;lol;lol;lol
Oh man....that is too funny. Wish the OP would "accidentally" post the dealers name so nobody else has to deal with this loser.

And dealers wonder why they get bad reputations.

This is what scares me, regency tech suppuort told me that. I just spoke with the last dealer in the area, they do not do service, but she said she has contacts to the regency training repair center in Baltimore and she will contact them and see what she can come up with. Lets hope I get a better answer then just a fluff lmao.

Hay now, I like a good fluff every now and then.

I love the stove, and it throws alot of heat, Just the smoke smell on startup, as well as intermmintent smoke smell from the gasket, has to be stopped. I mean im not asking for a million dollars, just someone with some common sense to see me through this. The dealer who I bought this stove from never called me, so i feel like he lined his pockets, and after that to hell with the customer. One of two things I wish for. (A)scott or Eric were closer for tech support, Or B I should of bought a Englander, and just repaired it myself as need be. Least I would of had Mike to walk me through if problems arrived.

While having Eric or Scott available would be the best for a different stove, your Plan B would be ideal for you if your even the least bit familiar with basic hand tools.

Ya I am one of them type that I would say jack of all trades master of none lol. I guess I should tell the girlfriend that I was advised today that I need a good fluff!;)

I had the issue with the blown fuse in my Regency and after replacing the auger motor per Regency they suggested replacing the control board for $350.00. That's when I came by here for advice and now my stove works. Tech support just looks in the same manual that comes with the sove.

"You put them in the clothes dryer on air fluff, it does an absolutely wonderful fluffing job. The only issue is after fluffing they leak like a sieve. "

that must be quite a racket with the pipes and all........()

Hey, My experience is not to fluff but to replace the gasket. I have also found that in most cases it's a seam in one of the stove exhaust vent pipes that leaks...i recommend downey for fluffing!!;lol

A dryer sheet would diminish the smokey smell, and the stove would smell nice and fresh when you fire it up!

Manufacturers let anyone sell and have no requirements for trained service people, factory, MRI or otherwise...yet when I want to sell stoves they tell me I cannot have a dealership because they already committed to others. Folks... You are the reals losers here with most brands

I could of not said it any better scott. The thing that gets me Is Im not one of those ignorant customers, I am very respectuful, and just expect that if I have a problem even though it is intermitten that it will be taken care of. I mean you spend thousands of dollars on a nice stove, and you expect a decent product, as well as having qualified service should a problem arise. I mean is that asking to much what gives!

Hi Broken- Actually you got pretty much the standard answer I would expect from the dealer. Every dealer believes their brand is the best available, until you've worked at 2 or 3 dealerships, been an installer or service guy and seen all the stoves available. Remember too, at most dealers you are talking to a sales guy, after the sale is very important, but the sale is still foremost for any dealer. I still think the most ridiculous thing is dealers for the most part refusing to work on other stoves other than the ones they sell, we sometimes forget that the customer pays our wages.
For myself, the exh conn could have been better, we talked to an Enviro tech about the exh conn, and brought up the fact that the design is ok if its hooked up once and never taken off again. Over time the lip of the flange will bend or weaken. A good cure is a better gasket using the self sticking (supplemented with silicone) glass gasketing 3/4 inch and extra screws through to tighten it down. Their response was "it shouldn't be moved after install" I looked at the guy and realized I was just wasting my time. This was also the same tech who told me he could get any EF2, EF3 or Empress running within 10 mins after other dealers couldn't fix them at all. The funny thing is that Al (the r and d guy)at Enviro is one of the better techs I've talked to, he's the one I'd suggest anyone talk to at Enviro..... Again, there will be good service guys and then there will be others.... Good luck.

Thank you and appreciate your comment, if It was not for this site I would feel that Im the only one with this opinion on this stove.. What funny is I called enviro first not knowing and when i told him I had a regency he said I would love to help you, but I will catch chit from regrency. His exact words, so I knew he has heard this complaint before, but due to company policy he would not speak to me and sent me to regency. At this point I have taped the whole exhaust flange around the gasket, and then If i still get smoke smells, im going to put a smoke bomb in the fire pot, and see if I can find something that im not seeing.

Hi broken- yeah politics always involved. Forgot to mention to you, make sure seams of the venting pipe are secure, with screws and silicone. We silicone inside and thin coat outside seams too especially 45 and 90 deg elbows. Good luck, you'll find it, a flashlight in low room light good way of finding smoke seepage too. Stay warm.
