greenwood 100 damper motor problem

i have had a greenwood boile for 4years , it had some issues to work out ,but i had it running good . this season i fired it up and noticed i could hear the fliud running in the lines ,furthur more the damper motor wanted to open and close at will and below operating temp .I thought the pump was maybe cavitating and replaced the cartriage and it still makes water flowing noise also the damper motor is now closed and will not open . I could use some advice
 
I know nothing about a Greenwood but hearing water moving usually is an indication of low water. Confirm that the system is full and the pressure is adequate for your system.
 
it is full to the level and it is an open system so its not pressurized till after the heat exchanger ,
 
I also know nothing about Greenwoods, but there should be no 'sloshing' noise in your lines unless there is air in them. I'd say you need to do some bleeding especially if this is a start up after an off season shut down.

So then also knowing nothing about your damper motor - if it is like my old one and powered by a zone valve motor, they do go bad on occasion. I did have to replace mine at least once. When it went bad, sometimes it wouldn't open, sometimes it would stick open. Check for power going to it for starters.
 
Check the aquastat that controls the draft motor.make sure there's power to it. If that failed it won't let the door open as well.
 
i opened the flow meter last night and pushed on the spring mecanisim with a screwdriver , the damper motor started to work . iam wondering if thats the issue
 
I'd say if there's a flow switch in your system that its working as designed. Sounds like your air bound. Flow switch look something like this? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1355939186.443291.jpg
 
ok i googled it , my system is an open system ,how would air gotten into the system ,could a bad flow switch cause this
 
I don't think a bad flow switch would cause the air. It's not uncommon to get an air pocket in the system after it sits for a long period of time. The flow thru the boiler showed be silent. Where is the boiler located?
 
bolier is in the garage system has a reservor tank on the top of the boiler after the heat excanger it is a pressureized system
 
i have a temp guage on the boiler , pressure gauge after the exchanger , i have an auto fill on the other side of the heat exchanger, on the boiler side i have a tank on the boiler with a sight glass that i keep filled
 
boiler isnt workimg right now . damper motor will not open . i tested it buy by passing it and the damper motor started to open
