I had the same problem with my burn pot not sitting flush. I had to persuade ( beat with a hammer) the pot cradle until it was completely level. I also had some welding slag around the bottom of the burn pot.
I also brushed the stove thoroughly through every known hole the stove had. Needless to say, my stove never burned better!

Another happy customer! lol

Out of curiosity, have you ever had the cradle out and confirmed that you do have a gasket between the cradle and back wall?
There was a cradle gasket on there and I replaced it this year. I purchased the gasket kit and replaced them all.

Just finished adding the gasket and it fired up. It will be interesting after a couple of hour to look how much ash I have in my burn pot.

I want to thank all of you for your expert advice, I think it has paid off. I went through a 40 rd bag of pellets in 19 hrs and things are working very well. No need to dump ash out of the pot this morning, No black soot on my glass and only about a 1/3 of the pot with ash(between the 2 big holes). I will give a good cleaning fill it back up and try it again.

1 last question. Do you think I can live with the gaskets on the cradle, do I need to modify the burn pot to sit flat, or do I need to order a new cradle (Kind a pricey solution)

Thanks again, its great having the stove work as it should.

Well since what you have is what they call a defect in the manufacture of the product I'd be talking to England about getting the pot/cradle situation taken care of somehow.

I'd even go so far as starting a personal conversation with stoveguy2esw who is Mike Holton from England , point him to this thread.

ETA: But I'm a real PITA just ask Mike.

Glad your burn is better! I don't want to be a "Debbie Downer" here but it still sounds like you still might have some sort of air flow issue. I'm purely just basing that on my stove. I never have a burn pot even remotely 1/3rd full of ash.....even when I burn crappy pellets. Have you ever tried running your stove without the OAK attached just to test it? I know an OAK is mandatory on all Englander stoves but just to test it you should be ok. Maybe it's not pulling enough air through your setup.

Also do what Smokey said and hit up Mike.

He is going back and give the stove system a good brush and suck job. That may make a big difference.

I went through this routine and learned that before every test you do a really deep clean of the stove, that is why I said that I knew it was a pain.

I didn't feel like arguing with the OP. Sometimes it is best if one learns a step at a time on their own.

So true in most aspects of life!

So do you have any ash in your burn pot at the end of the day? I guess I only know me with a pellet stove, so I don't know what to exactly expect. Should the bottom holes of the burn pot be visible after 40pds. When running should the burn pot be empty for the most part, except for a few hot coals and the latest dropped pellets? I would say when I am running the burn pot is 1/2 full expect in front of the 2 big holes. After the cool down its about a 1/3 full. I will take a picture of it tomorrow.

I will disconnect the OAK for today and see what that gives me. Never hurts to try.

And I will try and hook up with Mike as you both recommend.

Yes but just a little accumulation in the corners of the pot....Yes, you should EASILY see the bottom of the pot after one bag. I just opened my stove to look at my pot....I should have taken a pic but didn't.....I've been burning Great American pellets, which are very ashy but good heat, since yesterday early afternoon and see almost all of the holes at the bottom of the pot and nowhere near 1/3rd pot full of ash.

Out of curiosity, what kind of pellets are you burning?

Magic Spark Premium Hardwood
Ash 0.6% Fines 0.4% Density 45 pds Per Cu Foot, 8100 btu. Not sure if it hatter but there a member of the Pellet Fuels Institute.

Member of PFIZER means nothing. Some of the best fuel out there doesn't have a PFIZER stamp.

That and other than the few that don't, almost every other brand is.....

A pellet isn't a pellet isn't a pellet. The people at the Big Box Stores think they are all the same...?? That's like saying that all firewood is the same. Some fiber is better than others. Some densities are better than others.

But Magic Sparks are Pro Pellets (Same pellet) and Pro Pellets are very good IMO. So I think there may be an air leak somewhere still, or ash still in the works. Try a different pellet anyways. But sounds like an airflow problem.

Wait, they aren't the same? lol

Ditto on the airflow...it's either ash or a leak or vent setup....but that is just my opinion based off of my stove....

All I can add to the discussion is the caution to only change one thing at a time or you are going to be participating in a cluster ....

If I were still having the build up on a much reduced basis the only thing I would do is the bush, pound, and vacuum side of things and only that.

The very next thing I would try if your stove is at 1-4-1 on the bottom since the pellets are rather dense I'd increase the settings to 1-5-1, but what would I know.

You want some action in the burn pot.

I have tried
Uncle Jeds Cold Remedy
Marth wood pellets
Wood Fiber out of Niagera WI
2 or 3 others that I don't remember there names. So far the magic pellets have been the best and they also slide down the hopper really nice.

Tomorrow night I will pull everything apart and try another full cleaning, brush the chimney, and clean out behind the combustion fan and play with the burn pot again and make sure I have the best seal;

Agreed. Today I disconnected the OAK. The stove was already set to 1-5-1. We just got slammed with a snow storm (12" of wet snow and a 600 foot drive way) so I have not had much time to do another through cleaning today.

Every day I clean and scrape the burn pot, vacuum the cradle and lift up the plate on top so I can clean out any ash that makes it into the baffle area.

Stick with it and it will finally burn as it should.

Don't mention the white stuff we had it earlier this week and I did the snow removal after the day's chores only for it to rain the next day and now what was 7" is like 2" in another part of the state when things somewhat cleared off there was 32" of new white stuff on the ground.

That reminds me I should change my sig.

Not familiar with your stove, but I raised the AOT on my 10-CPM from 1 to 3 and problem solved. Stirrer turns quicker and has improved the burn considerably. I've been burning GS and had constant buildup.

No stirrer on the 25EP stoves.

PFI (Damn auto correction on the iPad!!) Ugh.....

Lol, I was kinda wondering about the PFIZER thing there. Didn't know if I should ask or not, thought maybe I might learn something new today ;lol Autocorrect can be a gigantic PITA sometimes!

Well I had a pleasant surprise this morning I received a phone call from Englander stove work. I sent a message to Mike last night asking for help and fortuity I was snowed in so I am working from home today and I think he found the magic bullet. The control board was not setup for my stove and was over feeding the pellets by about 7% so after a few hours my burn pot started filling up. He walked me through the process of reprogramming it and almost instantly I notice a big change in the flame.

I am going to run it the rest of the weekend and give you guy a full report. Thanks again for all your help and getting me in contact with Mike. It is so nice finally seeing the stove work as designed.
