I would love to be able to check my water temperature from my iPhone.......
At home or away...... Sure would be awesome.

I have never used one but controlbyweb.com has some interesting stuff. I think the x300 was the on I was considering.

Cool..... I'll check those out........ Anyone use a web cam for this?

Jesse there is a device for an iphone called igrill I think if you hook this up it sends the temps back to your iphone

I used control by web.

i didn't care about seeing it from offsite.. so i went with the cheaper module.

Look up a thread i started called "internet enabled" shows what I bought and whatnot.

Pretty easy to hook up. The X300 is more money, but can be accessed offsite and will data log.

I don't monitor my wood heat remotely since it is not water based. I did however setup an IP camera on my new gas furnace that was acting up. I have an android app that I can view the RTSP streams directly but I also hosted the camera on Click2Stream so I can view it from anywhere on the internet through any browser.

I work in IT and have installed many IP cams for security and for process monitoring. I also use environment monitoring for my data centres and they email/text me.

There are cameras with dry contacts that you could connect a basic mercury bulb thermostat to. The camera can be configured to send emails on contact closure.

I saw a web cam in the last Source flyer that sounded like it could be used on a wireless network, and accessed via internet. Planning to check that out - I could mount one with a view of one of my temp guage panels, and LED indicator light that comes on when back up heat is called for. Any more hints for the semi-ignorant home owner on this stuff? This one was somewhere between $100-200. Is that the going rate?

a buddy uses one that's supposed to be easy. called a "drop cam"
