I just got this text from my wife. I always love it when she loads the stove while I'm at work. Last winter she was pregnant and on bed rest, so it's good to see she is loading the stove again.

Anyone else have a woodburning wife?

I have a wife who enjoys the heck out of wood heat......she loads sometimes too.

Mine will shoot me a text just to let me know how warm the house is !!

I work a 24hr shift. My wife has no problem running the stove on her own.

My wife was certain it would be too hot for her liking. When I'm not around she keeps the thermostat on 60! It was quite a surprise to come home one day to find that the little fire I'd started in the morning to take the chill off had been well fed all day. The stove room was 80 and the rest of the house a comfy 72. I think she's a convert.

When I'm gone, wife takes care of the stove. She also does the ashes all the time and checks the chimney occasionally. Helps with some of the wood cutting.

I knew you'd be chiming in on this one. Your wife is a wood burning veteran. My wife is still learning the ropes. Hell, I'm still learning the ropes.

I'm still learning too!

My wife is always reluctant to start a fire, but if I build it and send her a text to remind her, she will throw some logs on. Today I sent such a text and she said she had already done it. I told her, "Good job, I will extend your probation another month." ;) Hoping to pick up a more efficient stove so I can build a fire at night and not worry about it until 9am or so and she can add a few logs. Last night I put a couple big logs on at 10:30pm. At 7am there were coals left but very few. Took some coaxing to get it going again. This is an old beast of a stove. Heats the house but eats the wood.

Mine helps balance the tractor as well as haul wood into the house and feed the stove ;)

I am a woodburning wife, does that count?
I am the wood burning wife too since I work from home, I tend the fire all day long. On the weekends, I reluctantly let the hubby do it but he isn't as good as me:)

My wife will do whatever it takes, load it to keep it going, start it if it is cold..she loves the firestarters from Supercedar and she is always telling me that buying and installing our wood stove was the best investment we have made.

My wife will start it up get the wood etc...she enjoys the stove as much as i do.

My wife loves the stove and heat....as long as I do the work.>>
She will load occasionally, but doesn't open the air or adjust either. I'm always concerned the stove will melt when she does that, so it's me doing it most of the time.

I wish I could say I do... But sadly this not the case... My better half is convinced the stove is putting invisible pollutants in the air that is making her cough and believes the house is cold because the rooms far from stove are *only* 70F (stove room 75)

Of course when I'm at work and the gas heat is on she cranks the thermostat from 68 up to 72 and would sit in front of and burn the open fireplace all day...** scratches head**

My wife will fire the stove, but she is more reluctant to do it now, after a few runaway conditions. Most of these were probably due to operator error, and not being as comfortable messing with things when stuff starts to go wrong. I work on industrial burners at work (including some very large woodburning ovens), Which I think makes me more comfortable burning in general.

My wife typically loads the stove during the day, and does an occasional cold start. Happy I got super cedars, been much easier for her. It has actually become a little competition between us, who can get the house warmer.
Don't think my MIL is all that happy that her daughter is loading a wood stove, but until she pays my oil bills I don't really care. Every time she is over she complains she is cold. The other night she was watching my kids. I typically load her up, cut the air, never ask her to do a thing. I know better. We were out kind of late so the house did cool a bit. Of course, when we get home she complains she is freezing. BTW, I have told her she can simply turn on the baseboard heat if she would like. So I take a look at the thermostat and see that the house cooled to 71. I tell her I'm sorry she is so cold, what do you normally keep your heat at? She says 70!!!!

In addition to tending to our 4 kids, my wife runs the stove from around 7am to 6pm every day... Good woman!

My wife will start the stove and feed it during the day, but she will not load it chock full. Just a few splits to keep it going. I do not complain, however, once in a while I come home to "oh yeah, I forgot I loaded the stove a while ago". After recovering from my heart attack, all is well.

Yeah, my wife is great, I keep fireplace gloves and enough wood for reloading near the stove .

My wife is determined to keep the furnace off this winter so she has no problems filling and lighting the stove. It's my responsibility to keep a supply of split dry wood around (luckily I have a enough c/s/s for a for few winters).

I have a feeling I drew the short straw.
