regardless of who's in charge of the stove, how many have spouses who like the house cooler than they do?
i'm guessing i'm in the minority here. i definitely like it warmer than my wife does.
she's given up suggesting i put a sweater or socks on if i'm cold.
my lair is closer to the stove room though. so it works out fine while i'm up.

I would keep my house around 62 if it were me only. I used to keep my a/c at 65 until the first bill came. My wife would keep the heat at 75 until the first bill came.

My wife originally from Mass. likes the house cooler also. I blame my liking it warmer on: I work outdoors,I'm on blood thinners, and I'm thin.....Gotta be real careful with that last excuse. Truth is I hate cold. And this place can be in the high 70's and I'm happy.

My whole family loves to keep the house around 75 degrees. Wouldn't have it any other way. This is what we all call "Ghetto-Hot!"

She is NEVER warm i dont know how she dealt with 66 when we were using Oil. But i have to admit i cant imagine going back to 66 again. even at 70 i get a bit chilly. Guess you get use to the temp regardless of what temp you have to deal with

I'm in the same boat. Before pellets, the house was at 68-70 and I was fine and my wife was freezing. Now that we have the stove, the pellet room is too hot to hang out in (although my wife will) and the living room sits at 72-74 so that back bedrooms will maintain 70. Yesterday, or the day before, the living room got down to 70 and I was cold.

I wish!

Used to keep the house around 70 to 72 with oil, now I love it hot. The hotter the better, but she turns it down saying 77 is ridiculous. I say if its 20 outside and the stove can produce in the mid 70s in lower rooms let it because the upper rooms will be low 70s but she thinks that burning it that hot will eat into our savings over the oil. I will Agree that burning that hot will use more pellets, but it still far outweighs oil.

When I was heating with propane 62 was the high and 55 at night and while we were away. My wife no longer lives with me (go figure!) and now with the pellet stove I can't handle it more than 68 or 69 in the living room (stove room). My bedroom is the only room that really doesn't get the heat from the stove but I have a separate zone for that room and it doesn't kill me to crank the conventional heat for getting out of the shower (only time I really need it). When running the stove consistently the upstairs gets just as warm (if not warmer) than the stove room.

Almost everything in my house can be given a value which is expressed in US Dollars...our level of comfort is one of the exceptions to this rule.

My wife is seemingly never warm! I keep the house at 74 and that is way too hot for me but she finds it bearable!

Wifey likes it way warmer than my son and I. She'd be happier if the house was 75ºF. we settled on 72ºF and my son and I wear shorts all winter. She's still bundled, If I want her to wear skimpy cloths, I just crank the heat to 80ºF something! ==c

Maybe she cranks up the heat to get you in your skimpy clothes...Ewwww...Wait a second, I just threw up a little in my mouth!!;)

My wife is fine in the 70-72 range, I like it a couple degrees cooler, but am more than willing to keep it where she is the most comfortable. Plus, if she gets the least bit cool, her feet turn pretty much to ice, which she will then put up against me in bed, and it nearly stops my heart from the shock.

My daughter on the other hand would like it 85 degrees. Of course she likes to wear tank tops and shorts year round. You can send them to college, but it doesn't mean they will ever gain any common sense.

Wife likes it warmer - I'd be happy at 66-68 and put on a sweatshirt (that's what they are made for!) - but with the stove I'm able to keep things about 72 downstairs and 68 upstairs (and she still complains). Can't get it any warmer or I'd be wearing shorts all winter too. If we ever had to go back to oil, she'd be in for a rude awakening.

I wear shorts all winter.

Me too:cool: I wear them everyday to work and I work outside [ let me qualify that statement, I wear them to work but when the temps are in the 30's I put on wind pants or rain pants I only look stupid and I'm doing a fine job of it too;lol

What was the original ?? again Oh yeah does she like it cooler No.

my live-in gf comes from a 'frugal' lifestyle and was keeping her heat at 49 in her apartment!!!
She likes it about where i do which works out good. 66-70 when we are home and laying low, 64-65 when we are working (painting, cleaning, etc etc in the house) and 62-63 at night.

The wife and I are pretty much like it at the same temperature. But we have to add humidity into the air, the both of us would be coughing without it.

My wife was born and raised in Candia, NH. No matter. She just IM'ed me with "sure is cool in here." I replied "whats the temperature?" She said "72."

72 for me is shorts and a t-shirt.

She must be getting used to the stove, because it WAS at a constant 66 before we put the stove in. Spoiled.

68 is good for me I'll be in the den. The wife is like a yoyo. If she's cold she's sitting in the living room with the Jotul, 72-75, then she'll be sitting in the den telling me the house is to warm.

Not sure "frugal" is the right word, but at least she was smart enough to move in with a guy with a Winslow Pi40 pellet stove!
