Well this is my first year burning and we had put in a small 1.4 cu ft regency insert in our living room upstairs as that is all that would fit in our fireplace opening. It does a decent job heating the living room as long as I keep putting wood in every 4 hrs. However Im wishing I would have put in a bigger freestanding stove in our finished basement. Im trying to find a cheap stove and found out homehardware sells the stove below, just wondering if anyone has experience with that stove. How long of a burn time would I expect with the 4 cu ft firebox? In case anyone is wondering Im trying to heat a 1200 sq ft split lvl home, so the basement isnt really like a basement its just 5 steps and off to the side of the main living areas and I also spend most of my time down in the basement anyways. hopefully the below link works.

That stove comes up every year. Unfortunately, nobody here has one that I know of. I think it might be way overkill for your needs.

I'd be looking at the mid sized Drolets or Napoleons.

I would consider the Century-Heating models - made in Canada.
Formerly CFM.
The larger one is comparable to the Englander 30.
The Century also boasts a large ash drawer. I honestly don't know what folks do with little to no ash drawer. It is very convenient.

I understand they actually make several other brands (Drolet and Osburn as I recall).
They are competitively priced.

You have a lot of good choices with Canadian stoves. I would look for a better fit. Check out the Napoleon 1450, any number of SBI stoves under the Drolet or Osburn label, Pacific Energy True North TN19 or Super 27, and the Enviro Kodiak 1700.

Hey Salmonhunter

I think that stove would be way overkill....

Where do you live in NB? If you lived in southwestern NB I would recommend something much smaller...Northeastern NB would be a different story.

As BrotherBart said; Englander sell stoves under the Timber Ridge name in Canada. Canadian Tire sells them. There's the 2200 and the 1800. I would also look at the Drolet brand which is under SBI. I have an Osburn (under SBI) and they make a great product.

The sky is the limit with affordable stoves made in North America that can suit your needs!
