I'm burning the MWP softies this year. I bought a ton last year and was happy with them. This year I bought 3 tons, I still had Vermonts and others leftover (man this forum costs me money!!!) :). So far I'm pretty happy with them. Only got really cold for a couple of days so I'm sure the real test is yet to come.

I've burned a few bags of my MWP blend as well. $192 at TSC. Very happy with them so far. I'm waiting for some real cold which is allegedly going to invade the NorthEast sometime middle/end of next week to see how they perform then.

Is this the January weather you are waiting for? (NW Mass forecast):

^ that's depressing.

These are the ones that I have 3 ton of. The best so far. Tried Green supreme. Not too pleased with it. Little messier. Just tried a bag of Northeast which I was told was pure softwood but not so sure. Believe 80/20 soft to hard. Nice heat but it is mild out. Burns really fast compared to the MWP blend. What is your favorite?

Green Supreme seemed cleaner(less ash by volume) But MWP had more heat. Problem is I can't get anymore. TSC has Northeast, they were just OK IMHO. I have been leaning towards Pres-to-logs and FSU from HD. Timber Heats from Lowes. Market is a bit different in my area. I'd burn the MWP if I could get em easy.

I like the MWP blend they were my last ton that I bought only have room for about 4 tons. If I had more room I would have bought at least one more ton.

JT, were your GSs from the Schuyler plant?

Do you know if all GS come from that plant?

I bought four bags of Timber (NO)Heats from blowes in Waterford. One went thru the stove, the rest are going on the driveway next time it's icy!!!

Timber Heats are hotter than the GS's I tried. Only other pellet my local Lowes has is Inferno's(not wasting my time). Ash aside and heat being most importent. I'd take the Pres-to-logs and FSU, But if all else fails I'd do the Timber Heats. About the only box store brands I can find local.

Timber Heats are a DryCreek pellet. I have had decent luck over the years with Dry Creek. Just my worthless 2 cents worth.

Ive been spoiled by the Barefoots. My stove does not do well with average pellet length greater than 3/4", which is why the Timber Heats did not fare well with me. The Barefoots are "long" but the density makes up for it. IMO

Jay where the heck are you? Home cheapot has been overflowing with stove chow all year?

I thought JT was in pellet alley. Never seen someone have access to so many different pellets.

Non-definitive definitions:

Shoulder season pellet: What you don't put in your stove when it's wicked cold out if you have the expensive stuff.
Wicked cold: Under 0 degrees F.
Expensive stuff: Any pellets that cost over $250 per ton.

I'm in Winsted, I get most of my stuff from the Torrington stores(Agway-Lowes), New Hartford(Home Cheapo) and Barkhamsted(TSC). Good pellets come from CTpellet or BT Ent in Bristol. Local HD has had PTL most of the season. Saw only FSU in the early fall. I haven't checked in a month or so. They might have SC now?

I have a couple a buds that travel a bit. They bring me what I can't get local but its only a few bags here and there. A couple of members have also traded a few brands I couldn't find.
CTpellet and BT Ent were donating samples when they can. CT has a couple that I need to pickup one of these days.

Heck I even had mills drop ship some right to my door steps. Not so much since WPR has been doing his reviews. Mills have been sending the samples to him instead. Probably a good thing as I don't have the time I had a few seasons back. Work keeps me a bit busy these days.
