Ive been considering a Eastwing Fireside Friend for making kindling, so I got to browsing other sites for comparison shopping when I came across the Triffix from Mueller. Its a very interesting tool. It also appears to have won a few design awards.

Has anybody even seen one? Used it? I cant find very many references to it at all online. Only one place in the UK ( i think ) has a price listed at $155 ==c http://www.arborrakes.com/product/muller-triffix-kindling-axe

Anyways, from the looks of it I can't even find a dealer assuming I wanted to buy one. It is a neat looking tool however

Also available in a Ladies version (seriously... I think its actually a bit lighter)

Yeah............. I think not. My hand hurts watching the video. Lost leverage with no handle length. I think a hatchet is still the better mousetrap vs this thing.

It should be the color of Red to hide the blood stains!!<>

Choke up on the hatchet handle for the same effect.

My kindling doesn't split that easily (he's got cottonwood).

I've found the best kindling maker is to sit in a chair and use my splitter

Splitter trash is what I use as well.

I know there are lots of cheaper ways to accomplish the same thing, like choking up on a standard hatchet, but this thing is pretty cool IMHO.

The price, while I probably would never pay it, is right in line with the other hand forged products out of Europe, like Gränsfors.

Looks like it would be easy to make one; nice project for a knife smith.

I stick to my fireside friend and its a lot cheaper.

Choking up on a heavy head axe has worked almost like this tool. And guess what? I already have one (or 6).

Looks interesting but it wont do anything that the 30+ antique hatchets of various styles & weights that I already own.Mueller does make good stuff however, one of Europe & Austria's oldest family owned axe & edge tool forges, in business since 1675. Their drawknives are excellent, eventually I'm gonna have 1 of their 4.5lb twisted steel wedges & their small bowl adze.

For $155 it better come with an extra set of fingers!!! , guys gonna need them.
I cut up pallet slats for kindling, I hold them with a channel lock pliers, much safer.
I just use a ax and choke up some. Some of the pallets are quite knotty, you really have to whack it hard.

Wait until someone tries making kindling with hydraulics! It is fun and super fast!

Looks like a cool little tool scooby074. Thanks for sharing, I will look at what else the company has to offer. But like you said, way to much cash to spend for that job. Find a small axe, I have a collins 2-1/2 that I choke up on a little, and make your kindling with that. You can probably find one at a garage sale or craigslist for 10 bucks.
