I only shut-r down to clean. I'm 100% pellet heat now . Mine is a boiler too if that makes a difference

What's this away from your home stuff? Oh yeah, I forget. some of you are still doing the daily grind.

The stove is runing 24/7 from about mid October until sometime in April unless it is off for cleaning, maintenance, or it is too darn hot to run it.

I'm still trying to figure out how to do this. j/k!
It has to do with relativity, speed and time dilation.... er... wrong forum.

On a more serious note, I consider my electric clothes drier to be more dangerous than my pellet stove.

Ours runs 24/7 also it was a little unnerving to let it run the 1st time we weren't home.

The guy at the pellet stove place said the same thing......there is a flame going all the time in the oil furnace.

We only shut ours down once a week for cleaning .

We do turn the thermostat down to 70 degrees while at work and are gone for 10 - 12 hours. We have the oil furnace set at 58 as a back up.

24/7 during the winter, pellets are cheaper than oil.

Alright, alright. I'm gonna give it a try this week. I'm really not obsessive, I just have an old house in a remote location. I've also had a few glitches over the years that have made me a touch paranoid. But, like many of you have pointed out, I go to sleep with it running, so I should be able to trust it. Maybe I just need to relax and have another homebrew.

I dont leave mine on while at work. I let her eat all night long. goes on whne I get home from work and off in the morning. It usually isnt really cold enough during the day to really need it. But on those really cold days maybe its about time I just leave it on???

24/7. I wouldn't have invested over $4k in it otherwise.

I was reluctant to run it when I was not home as this is my first year with the stove, but as they said above, as long as you have a proper installation and good maintenance, then it is no different than the oil furnace running when your not home. I have gotten over my fear and now my girl runs 24/7 and is shut down only for cleaning.

I'm a 1st year pellet burner too. Run it 24/7 except for cleanings.
Figured the M55 was so loaded with safety features that it just had to be OK.
Have run it out of pellets a few times but it has performed flawlessly.

Still wary of running our Jotul wood burning insert when we are not there.
Once you've experienced an overfire, you err on the side of caution.

I have no problem loading up the hopper and taking off for 24 hours and leave it running on 1. I have done it foe so lone I dont even give that a thought. I worry more about if I left the coffee pot on or not. lol

Yup my psychoses is more focused on unplugging the toaster and coffee pot...

Funny thing is, I leave my pellet stove on when I'm out, now the dishwasher, washer or dryer...No way in hell would I leave the house with those running...

I look at it this way . I don't clean the oil burner and boiler myself, but I do clean my pellet stove. I found out that the oil company I was using LAST YEAR was only changing the nozzle and filter on the furnace and charging me for a full cleaning. Dirty furnace = sick or dead people.. Not good!

I was nervous at first too. But then I thought about it, yes it is a fire but tho oil furnace is just a bigger fire box so that eased up more nerves and now I just let it run.

I don't mind running my stove if I have to leave for a couple of hours here and there, but I generally don't run it when I am at work. I have my oil heat kick on just before I come home to get the house up to a reasonable temp and then I light the stove and it does the rest.

I'm tired of burning oil so I'm considering running the stove to keep the house at 60 degrees or so when I'm at work. What do you guys think? Who runs their stove when they are at work? Good idea or not?
These stoves are meant to run 24/7 -- mine starts in Oct and other then cleaning it is on 24/7 using a thermostat house is always 70 degrees. You can but a setback or programmable thermostat that will run your stove at a lower temp if you want during times you aren't home.

By now you see the answer is EVERYONE! :)

I assembled my stoves from a collection of parts and it never occurred to met that they might be dangerous to leave on 24/7, it still doesn't.

It runs 24/7. Its in the basement with the furnace fan running so the heat goes through the ducts. Hopper holds 120 lbs. I make sure its full morning and night. Bought oil once in 3 years for the water heater...thats it

Stove is controlled by the stat so if its cold inside the stove is on no matter if I'm home or not.

You'll get over the fear once you get tired of coming home to a cold house or paying for whatever fuel you use as backup to keep it warm when the stove is off. ;sick

I run it 24/7 since new... except this past weekend... 55 & 65 degrees yesterday & today, but temps to drop tonight.... stove gets fired back up.

First few months using a pellet stove, no . We needed to make friends first. Don't even give it a second thought now.

I run a free standing pellet stove and a free standing gas stove on thermostat while I am at work.
