well I know the manager at the local Lowes real good and he called me today to let me know everything wood related went to 50% off today and he made me a good offer, they have 4 of the small century stoves that they want to just dump for $185 each if I buy all 4.... anyone know much about these? I wouldnt mind having a new stove for the garage and I would give one to my uncle but I was just looking for some feedback before I dropped a bunch of $$ on these, anyone on here have one?

the century stoves are good units from what i hear, lowes is trying to make room for lawn furniture they have my pellet stoves discounted as well. if you have use for the stoves, i'd buy em , its a solid unit , dont let the price fool you ,lowes is kinda strange that way they dump stock in mid winter to make room , it has nothing to do with quality. hey , im a direct competitor of century, if i give em a favorable indorcement it ought to be true right? i havent burned one myself but my son in laws parents have one in texas and they love it , i was bummed that they didnt get one of mine, but they couldnt find one in their area or they would have.

The local Lowe's in Tilton NH has the 2,000 SF ones for $375

Lowes Century Deals

It's almost worth getting one to mothball for a few years in the garage just in case.

Unfortunately if you want the blower they don't have one in Tilton. You have to go to Bedford, NH to get one, for $62.50!

The Vogelzang 'Box of Death' stoves are only $73.50.

hey, buy em up,i hope they sell out , might even buy a vozelgang , could melt it down for andirons <chuckle> lowes does this every year , but with the warm winter so far sales are a bit sluggish and lowes is dropping clearance pricing early. its a buyers market in hearth products this season (especially at lowes) no reflection on quality as i stated before,(well maybe with the VG) lowes just flat out doesnt want to store the stoves over the summer.

well I sell alot of wood and I have had about 10 people ask me if I knew where to get a decient stove for a garage that is not a grand and I figured I would buy 4-6 of them and just store them til they sell, it is not like they go bad, I want a new stove for my garage/shop to replace the inefficent wood furnace I have in there right now

repeating ad nauseum... Woodstoves in garages are not allowed by code.

Yes, as an employee of Lowes- Stoves went corporate clearance yesterday. I was told that it will not go any lower than 50% off the original price-

I might pick up a blower for $62...

I dont get how Lowes Makes money unless THE MANUFACTURES are giving them big deals.
They already are selling stuff dirt cheep then they give a 50% discount?

The best price I get on any stove I buy from the Manufacture is around 45% off list. and that is buying 25+ at a time
On top of it they work out a deal with some manufactures that when the season is over Big box stores can send the product back to the manufacture.

Makes you wonder how us FULL service specialty reatailers stay in business.

I guess they made money from people like me. I special ordered my Englander insert late October of 2005 at the local Lowes. They said pay full retail price upfront and wait two to four weeks for delivery. Goody, goody, I'll have it in for Thanksgiving I thought. I bothered them a few times in December and they said it hadn't come in yet. Late January 2006 rolls around, and we had a nice balmy weather spell in NJ. Lowes calls and said the stove has arrived. I asked that maybe they could do a free delivery since I waited 3 months for it. They said we'll call you back. No call-back. I went to pick it up the next day. I absolutely love the Insert, works better than I had thought it would.

Really good deals on Micore stove board as well. I just went to the local Lowe's and probably will be grabbing one of these with the blower. The pellet stoves are marked way down as well.

All the other stuff is on clearance too..gasket kits, etc..

I paid full price minus 10%- put it in, and saved money already. Very happy with it.. They had 2 left yesterday- one in the box and a floor model.

I'll check today.

did you call us when they didnt get the unit to you when they said( might could have speeded em up some, possibly)?? usually they turn around in 10-14 days, depending on what we have in stock,im kinda suprised it took that long. as for the regular retail pricing they do not carry the insert as a stock item actually they carry century in wood and us in pellet, but can order from us even if not a stock item. they have what they call an "sos" price which includes the item and freight consideration built in its the customer price. im sorry to hear you had to wait that long for the unit but im pleased to hear that its functioning well for you.

actually , i re read your post and i know why now by the dates, we were backordered to a fairtheewell for wood due to the "katrina effect" just couldnt build em fast enough to keep up , that was quite a year, caught everybody flatfooted we(manufacturers) were just about all behind. still bums me out , but now that i looked back , wasnt the store's fault, although they could have let you know. it truly was an abnormal situation,in the end it was actually us and not the store causing the delay, my apologies for it taking so long.

Thanks stoveguy. My area Lowe's doesn't stock Englanders either. They do stock Century though, and I went out and bought the larger one today. It came to just under $400 with the tax. Unreal. I've been shopping around for a stove for several months now and this beat any kind of deal I hoped to find on one-- I am just thrilled. :)

hey good deal, i think you will like it. we are hoping to pick lowes woodstove line back up. i think century gave a better bid, but i dont know for sure, im not a buisnessman in that respect. maybe if you need a unit in the future you will look us up. in the mean time, enjoy not paying the big utility bills :)

I picked up the small Century tonight for $240 after tax. I'm going to burn it in the house until the cabin is ready for it.

Matt

I saw that 2.9 cubic foot 21 inch log eating Century at Lowes today for $375 and the blower for $62 and this enemic F3 CB damn near ended up in the classified ads. I think I will hold out for a deal one of these days on another Englander 30-NC though.

I own three Chevy's, a Plymouth, two Poulan saws, an American made log splitter, a big ass wood stove from Monroe, Virginia and the Jotuls were assembled in Maine. Just not ready to join the global economy just yet.

be sure you let me know ahead of time if ya do BB we dont need another stove waving as it passes from colorado (chuckle) im sure i can find you one closer :)

Hey BB those Century are made at VC's plant in Indiana. The only product they import are the gas grills sold at Home Cheapo

To ease you American pride last time I checked the hoosier state was part of the 50

There is another plant in Canada. As explained to Goose and me VC is making every effort to be made in North America and to ween itsself from importing

Sorry Mike but had to set the record straight

I had'em look up the price of one for me at Home Depot this afternoon. That stove came all the way from Boulder, Colorado for two hundred bucks less than Home Depot would order one in for me. And one from HD would take 12 days longer to get here according to them. Of course I wish the fork lift driver had picked up the one next to it.

i still dont get that , 30-nc is supposed to be a stock unit at depot , unless they dont carry woodstoves in that store. one thing interesting to note, lowes is clearancing units , HD is not apparantly, guess they figure if they dont sell em this year they will next year.

hey elk,
ive been selling more century units in here today than i have my own , i didnt say anything about where they were built , just that i have heard them to be solid units

CFM is based in Ontario. However Toyota is based in Japan and they make cars and trucks in the US... It would be interesting to find out. Even if it was built in Canada. I'd rather give my $$ to Canada than a host of others.
