Having trouble with bottom auger stopping when stove is hot. After shut down it runs when stove is restarted.. Found one on Englander site for $130. , hoping there is a cheaper supplier out there somewhere.

Just pay attention to the rotation. And don't tell them you're buying it for an Englander stove....since they have a deal with them now, GA won't do any mods (like reversing the motor) for you.....tell them it's for a different brand.
But it's easily done yourself.
 
That motor is a intermittent duty style motor, don't you need constant duty rating for the lower auger?
Why does Englander put them in their stoves then? I doubt that would be a problem, but the OP could always switch the top auger to the bottom, and put the GA in the top spot.
 
If that's what englander uses then it is what it is. Just swear mike said both motors were continous duty rated.
 
ok good points, will checknration first. its appears to be a right hand motor, auger is turning left as I look in the front door
 
I have a old motor that failed under warranty, mine says made in Mexico can't see a manufacturer.

If you mean CCW (counter clockwise), then you'll either have them switch the rotation for you....the stock GA configuration is CW, or you can do it yourself....it's about a 4-5 minute operation, tops.
 
No, from the front....that's the way you look at an auger motor, facing the shaft.
 
One could wish that the companies at least had a standard for referencing direction. These are pasted directly from their websites.

CSH/Multi - Please indicate the required rotation upon order. Looking opposite end (from the rear of the "gearbox") tell us Clockwise or Counter Clockwise

"Duty rating refers to the length of time a motor is expected to operate under full load. The motor may be rated as either Continuous duty or Intermittent duty. Continuous duty rated motors are rated to be run continuously without any damage or reduction in life of the motor. General purpose motors will normally be rated for continuous duty.
Intermittent duty motors are rated to be run continuously only for short time periods and then must be allowed to stop and cool before restarting. It is usually possible to reduce the size, weight, and cost of a motor by purchasing an intermittent duty motor. Intermittent duty motors are available with maximum operating times of 5, 15, 30, or 60 minute duties or times.
These motors are sometimes used on devices like garbage disposals or air compressors where the motor operates for a short period and shuts off after the job is accomplished and will not be needed for an extended time period."

That's good information.
The thing that worries me about use of an intermittent duty motor in an application like an auger drive is the load is unpredictable. Normal load may be well within the motor's operating range, but if a jamb occurs, the work load on the motor puts it well out of the heat load range that the motor can safely handle. So if nothing goes wrong it can run for years without a problem, get a bad bag of pellets and it is in jeopardy.
 
well guys thanks for the help. I chickened out got one off ebay. constant run and the right turn so I don't have to rebuild a new motor. should be here thur.
 
My first post here,great forum.Have learned alot already just browsing.
I recently bought a home with a 25pdvc already installed.'06 model.This is my first experience with a pellet stove,and has been great so far.Just wanted to chime in and say that although I have no way to be certain,I believe the stove to be all original. The auger motors are both MK,and say intermittent duty on them?
I would imagine that continuous duty would be more appropriate,why would Englander have used intermittent duty motors?Especially with the bottom auger being run continuously for who knows how many hours/days?
Just wondering.
 
Maybe because the motor is not running at 100% load, it can run continuously. The intermittent rating is for full load. Just a WAG.

Check out these bargain Auger motors I got at surplus center for $20 ! ! ! I got a week out of the 1st one!

I may go with the Gleason- Avery's now!
