I'm having our chimney cleaned this coming Friday. We have a regency insert and fully lined flue. I'd like the sweeps to take a look at the cap, that should be standard protocol right?

Thanks,
Gil

When we have ours dine they inspect everything - flashlight inside the firebox to check for any cracks or bricks that need replaced, the chimney itself & they remove the cap & clean it if needed. To prepare we simply don't burn for 24hrs. Don't need to clean out before they get there, they will do it for you if you prefer.

Just watch to make sure they remove the baffle before sweeping if they sweep from the top.

Sweep came out, swept from the bottom and inspected the stove to liner connection. He then went up on the roof to inspect the top of the chimney and showed me photos. Everything is fine except he recommended furnace cement at the liner/stove junction.

Thanks for the help,
Gil
