I broke something on my Hopper lid slide last night (I think). The lid pulled out about six to eight inches and got stuck, so I used a little persuasion and yanked it open. Closed the lid and then it would not open passed the 6 to 8 inch mark again, so in my pie eyed state, I yanked harder and heard something fall to the Hearth. I found a small steel ball, assuming it's a slide bearing of sorts. Being it was throwing heat on level 3 and I was at least 1.5 sheets to the wind, I did not explore the problem much longer. Since I could not get the lid open far enough to turn the stove off, I removed the bolts that hold the lid on and shut her down.

Anyone have any experience with a similar problem, I am all ears??

7 inch drawer slides...gonna need a new set. Seen it a few times, probably a pellet or something got in there. Not a hard fix, but annoying. You'll have to remove the lid, and then it'll all make sense.

Thanks, that is kind of what I figured, but it's always good to hear from the gals and guys on hearth.com

I've seen the rope gasket for the hopper cause the same thing, again, once you get the lid off you'll see it all pretty clearly.

its always nice to help the people who like to help people....Go Team!

Didn't sit on it JT, But I had been resting the pellet bag on it when I filled it. As far as warranty goes, I believe it was my fault, so I bought a slide ($7.00/pair at rockler) adapted it to fit and installed it. It works, but I will now look for the exact slide and replace it!

I had a similiar experience just two weeks after purchase, which was about a year ago. You will need to replace the metal slides on both sides of you insert that attach to the lid. This is not difficult to do. Your owners manual should help identify the part number you will need to fix the problem. They come in pairs. In the interim, I put the ball bearings back into the slide that broke, which can be tricky to do and waited for the new parts to show up. Bear in mind that this is a temporary repair until the new comes in. The slide will eventually break down again due the initial metal fetague. One special note, when filling the hopper, carefully lay the bag on the cover/lid. If you drop the back onto the lid the weight itself will pop the ball bearings out of the slides.

Thanks Boblo...I just got a set of 10" slides at Rockler and drilled the holes I needed for the lid bolts and the connection to the stove box.

blah i had a m55 owner here amazed at the heat coming out. want me to find the post which asked if anyone wanted to buy his m55 ? lol :p
I don't need one. Mine works just fine! Mine heats 1850 Square Foot Colonial just fine. I also use the air handler from my AC unit (in the attic) to circulate the heat around the house. Makes a big difference.

Some folks can be fooled by your smoke and mirrors...You had a M55 owner there...Probably buying pellets for a good price and he was being nice to you...He Pm'd me and said he was freezing at your crib!!;)

I have the same issue on my gci60. Found the 7 inch replacements at stove parts for less. They’re like $135!! Any suggestions. That price seems pretty high.
