Wood ID and first shed

It's White.......Ash. Some kind of Ash anyway. What's your location?
And if you look at some of the pics here, it appears that most of these folks put a roof on their shed at some point.

Actually - I just did that to poke a sharp stick at nrford.It's White.......Ash.
He has probably seen more wood pass his eyes than I would see if I lived in a forest.

Welcome to the forum Rick.
You definitely have some good ash there. One of the best firewoods. Enjoy it because the emerald ash borer will be killing all of it. All our trees have already died.
I like the way you built the shed. The roof will be the finishing touch on it.

Well, it doesn't toss as much heat as some others but I guess when you factor in drying time, splitting ease, no rotten punk wood, etc you'd have to say it's 'one of the best.' Even though I'd prefer to burn other stuff, I'll be grabbing all the dying Ash I can when the bug gets here...hate to see good wood go to waste. This borer thing is bumming me out. White Ash is one of the more common species here.

I like it almost as well as oak but do prefer oak in the coldest part of winter for those long nights.

Woody, I would have thought you would have the little green devil in your area by now. It's killing all the ash on my property and I don't think I'm too far from you. Maybe the little green monster can't swim the big river
.It's Ash, and if you blow up that first picture larger (or in your case go look at the wood) you will see what I have been preaching and trying to spread around and "edukate" all woodburners that Ash has that little "pinhole" on the center of the cutside; it's real plain to see on your picture.
