couldnt come across it .post a pic when you get it .

1/2 x 1/8" - Sounds like 1/2 inch wide by 1/8" gasket that the glass rests against (glass to cast door gasket).

I don't know why a small piece of that couldn't be used.

I recently posted a request for help with a similar issue with my Quadra-Fire 7100 glass slipping. Over time it moves enough to let the glass gasket come lose. After letting the glass cool, I back out the screws on the brackets, readjust the glass, and tighten them back up.

The last time I did it, I removed a clip and saw that there is a thin, flat, non-woven material under it. It must be there to cushion the glass. After looking at the service parts list I noticed that there is a listed item in the door section: "Gasket, Lytherm, 1/2 x 1/8, 4. 4.17 Ft., Part# 834-2590". I think this must be that material. Searching for Lytherm shows that it is a high temperature insulation paper that is available in 1/8" thick forms and is good up to 2300*F. I am thinking that it is what they use to protect the glass from the metal brackets.

Q-F wants ~$60 for the part. There has to be another source out there.

Wow Jags! Thanks. That was amazingly fast. Are you clairvoyant? I almost feel like you were already typing your response before I posted mine.

I saw the lytherm stuff too. The only issue I see is that they're calling for 4.17 feet of it, but it would only take about 4 inches of the material to make up the pads under the glass tabs......

Ok, so after a bit more research I think I've found some locally. Lytherm is also called "Ceramic fiber paper" or "Ceramic blanket" that can handle temps up to 2300f. A local pottery supply shop (they use this for kilns, firing, etc) will sell me one square foot of the 1/8" for $3, and then I can cut it into the little squares I need for the glass tabs. Sounds like a pretty handy material to have around...

Thanks everybody for all your help with this--hopefully this will help others in the future who may be having similar problems.

The 4.17 feet of 1/2" x 1/8" lytherm is for the Q-F 7100. It uses brackets rather than clips like on the IR. The 1/2" strips would fit them well.

Checking my stove last night, I find absolutely no signs of any type of pad under the holding tabs for the glass. Just reporting back.

Yeah, when I looked closely at mine, only one had the whole pad intact, the others had what looked like "pad residue" where there had been pad but it was now gone. Of course the interesting thing to me about all of this is that Quadrafire CS insists that there are no pads on the metal clips......and yet we have several owners here reporting that they have them. Makes me wonder if maybe this has been a problem in the past with the glass slipping (though Quad CS says they have had no reports of this....) and so installers were putting the pads on the glass clips to save them the hassle of making a warranty trip to a customer's house when the glass started sliding?

Anyway, for $3 I'll get the pads and see how it goes.......

Hmmm...we may never know. Get those pads fixed up and let that big dog do what it was built for. Belching heat.

been burning for 2 yrs now i consider myself a rookie still but i know about the isle royale cause ive had it apart and back together and it took a rookie to tell you about the tabs and Quadrafire didnt say anything about them ???? lol crazy! well i hope i was able to help.hope that fixed your problem. also i found out about the tabs cause out of the 8 tabs there was only one left all the others turned to dust almost .oh btw i placed a dab of orange high heat silicone to hold the pads in place on the metal tabs.

Thanks Chrism. I just picked up the Ceramic fiber Paper at a local pottery supply place. One square foot of the 1/8" thick material for $3. There's a LOT of material here, more than enough to redo my start up air control box should I ever need to. It's actually a pretty cool material--takes temps up to 2300 degrees but very easy to work with. Seems like a handy thing to have around for wood stove owners....

Just for giggles, as an experiment I'm going to use the material to make pads for the glass tabs/clips on one door, and leave the other door the way it is to see if the pads actually make any difference or not.

Nonpro hasn't signed on since Feb. so I wouldn't expect a quick answer.

That stuff with the flecks looks like the interam gasket that goes around a cat. 1.5" wide and maybe 1/16" thick, $1.50 a foot.

Hey jags 2200 sq house open floor plan well insulated , I told my brother inlaw the IR . When they have fire place going it warms their house. Your thoughts ?

Yep - a 3 cuft stove is right in line with those specs.
