How'd I do? (stihl 026)

Just picked up a 026. Not the pro version but it has the adjustable carb. Riveted name plate. Almost new bar and chain. Runs great and easy to start, everything works as it should. Had to give $47 for it.

Don't really need it but I figure to keep it and sell my 029s and be money ahead.
 
$47 for an 026, that is insane. Congrats.

I'd pay $47 even if it needed a complete overhaul.

At any age that must be the buy of the year so far.
Over here an 18" Rapid Super full chisel saw chain for a 026 is £32.28 !!!

What did you do, beat the guy up, throw $47 bucks on the ground, and run away with the saw????;) That's is NUTTY!
 
He was only asking $100 (£63) offered 45 and settled on 47! Would have paid the asking price. Saw it on cl last night and was the first to respond.

Be nice to your wife divorce sales are expensive.

Got a chance to look it over. The throttle interlock isn't working. Haven't taken it apart yet. I assume it's broken.

I'm going to pick up new filters and a plug before I cut with it much. Anything else I should replace?

 
I'm a fan of putting in a carb kit in a used saw with unknown history - very cheap, easy, and can alleviate a lot of frustration. Too many folks leave state, untreated gas in the saw for a long time. If you are changing the fuel filter (good idea), I'd throuw in a new fuel line at the same time - same reasons as above. Cheers!

If it runs, cuts, and everything else operates as advertised (chainbrake, interlock, choke lever, starter, etc) then I think you're done. Enjoy.

Of course if that's not the case, report back and we'll get you fixed up. ;)
 
Got the saw apart to replace the fuel line which was rotted. I could also see the impulse line was a little gooey so I took the handle off to replace it. Alls well and will have the parts tomorrow. But I have what looks to be an extra piece :(
It was on the clutch side behind the front av mount.

Any ideas what it is?
