2001 Thelin Gnome shutting down NEED HELP!

Hey guys, new to the forum hoping someone here can help out. I have a 2001 thelin gnome. The stove works great, but latley it will start up and burn for a random amount of time and all the sudden shut down filling the house full of smoke, unless i catch it and switch to off then back to fan. The pellet feed is woking fine, no obstructions in the vent pipe and the overheat red light isnt lit when it shuts down. Also the stove was on both low med and high during this shut down issue. Ive heard of a possible Negetive pressure sensor that could possibly need to be cleaned out? Idk if thats true with this stove or not. I bought this stove used 3 months ago, it get s cleaned out after each use.
 
There are some Gnome owners, but not a lot.....just gonna take time for them to see your post....be patient.

I have worked on a few Gnomes.
Here is some of the things I have found

In your case, I would check the venting and exhaust to make sure it is clean and not partially clogged with pellet ash.

Also the room blower and the exhaust blower work in Tandem and the bearings can be worn out, and it is possible you need a whole new assembly. It is all replaced from the bottom of the stove.

If the brushes are worn down on that motor it will only work correctly on high, it will not continue running on low or medium. Try running on high and see if you have the same problem.

How's your venting set up?? Thelin requires 4 foot vertical rise, minimum. You using an OAK?? The gnomes love lots of air. You can also remove from vent pipe & vaccum ash from exhaust. It also may be a electrical issue and may require a stove tech. You'll know if you need a new fan or bushings when it makes a surging noise almost like its slowing down then speeding up, you'll know it when it happens. I have found that parts for these stoves are $$$. I used to call Thelin direct and talk to the owner, Jay. He sold co. & now customer service sucks & they won't sell me parts. Good luck

Ok first off, I am not using an OAK assuming that means an outside air kit should I be? And secondly my vent setup goes out through the wall to "T" and then up one section the an elbow with the vent cap, should I add more vertical sections? They are 12 in sections.
 
Usually 4-5' of vertical should be OK as long as the horizontal isn't too long.
 
Add more rise & if possible an outside air kit. You can also play w/trim adjustment. Clockwise to increase feed rate, counter to decrease. Adjust in small amounts, it is sensitive.
 
There are 2 sensors, you are right. The 1 connected to the exhaust has a ceramic orifice that is prone to clogging. Take it apart carefully as that are fragile and clean it out then reinstall. I have seen 2 with this problem and that cured it. Good luck.
 
I am happy to report after changing both T-1 and T-2 sensors and adding vertical pipe to reach a 5ft rise my stove is happy and working perfectly!! I too am now happy!! Thanks for all the help guys!
 
Glad you got it fixed.

Hint: we love pics of stoves....especially ones that are burning brightly!!
