My chimney is about even with the peak, and not far from it. I think I could benefit form another 3 feet of height. Surely I could get some block, mortar, and flue pipe and go that route, but I was wondering if there was a type of steel pipe readily available that transits nicely from square clay flue (6.5x6). Especially in this current weather, I don't really want to be trying to get blocks up there.
Easiest way to add 3 feet to a masonry chimney?

Can I test it out with just fitting a piece of stove pipe over the extruding clay flue on top? This doesn't have to be pretty, as long as it's safe. It's for my detached workshop, not the house.
You can use one of those cheap pieces of snap together duct work to test it. A couple of bucks at all the DIY stores. If this improves your situation, ya might want to get ahold of Craig (webbie). I am not sure what he would have in the line of extendaflu - or maybe he could lead you to something else.
