Tip for Pellet Owners w/Wear /Burn Plate

Hello All--

I have learned so so much from many here- it's time to give a tip back -- HOPE it helps someone

Last 2 -3 days I have tried-instead of scraping the "wear plate or maybe called 'burn plate" on many ENGLANDER stoves- I have simply waited the req 5 -10 min to cool down, then simply grabbed the plate with either tings or my hands(it was NOT too hot) and simlpy dumped into a tin can or roasting pan for the oven. I did this to avoid scraping a bunch of ash (like 1/2 a birds nest) into the ash pan area--

I figure why scrape into stove gathering area when i can throw out-- the result is better burns after cleaning- less need to go in and vac every 2-3 days---

Give it a try-- i like it so far !

I think you need to wait a bit more than 5-10 min for cool down. I've seen hot embers in my ash for hours after shut down..Just sayin, be careful.

I use an old metal spatula to give the wear plate a swipe on the fly...dump to the side and continue burning.

I agree with WoodPorn...Casting it to the side into the ash storage area, is safer...also....what about the ash under the wearplate? It's an important reason to vacuum out that area periodically. (Manual states bi weekly)

I agree- I vac and thoroughly clean twice per week-- this idea i shared is just instead of letting the ash buildup until the vac/cleansing days(2 tiimes a week) just an idea-- i like it so far is very safe if done right )

THER you go! thats what I do-- much less ash lingering in the wear palte burn pot area-- i find it burns(the stove) much much better between bi-wkly vacs cleanings! glad you do the same
