1-2 Bags a day?

Lately Ive been burning upwards of 2 bags a day....Is this normal? I gave the accentra a good cleaning the other day and still the same burn through...although I did notice it was a bit hotter! I keep the feed on 3, room temp (Have the probe up the wall behind the stove) auto, the temp setting around 5, and the blower in the middle. I am trying to heat the better part of my house approx 1800sq ft, counting upstairs.
Been burning:
Cubex - not as good as I thought it would be...lots of clumps)
Stove Chow - cant beat the price, heat is not bad
MWP - Currently in the rig, pretty ashy, heat comparable to stove chow
Turmans: burns great, with little ash...so far its the best ive had; but expensive

Want to try Somersets and oakies; anyone know where I can get those in southern Mass photo.JPG
 
I can't speak for Harman stoves but I've been on the two bag a day diet since the cold set in. If it gets above 30 I'll be closer to 1.5 bags.

About the same temps and I too am at 1.5 to 2 bags a day. House is just a bit bigger. Sounds like your in the ball park. Turmans are a very nice pellet, Pricey yes. But with half the ash content you can run a bit longer before you need to clean. Have you tried the Pres-To-Logs? Doing very well as far as heat goes, Ash is about like SC, Maybe a tick more. I also had a good run with some Timber Heats.

Members from your area will be jumpin in with other leads. How close to Squire Lumber are you? They carry Okies and a few other good brands.

running 1 1/2 bags just north of you burning chows right now . was going through 2 bags/day that really cold week .
 
Sounds about right to me. Heating 1000 sg ft and using a bag a day in the colder weather. Over 40 about half a bag.
 
Have been running 1.5 to 2 bags a day coming on two weeks tomorrow but it has not been above 15 degrees either. Supposed to be maybe 23 tomorrow but that's 3 below normal. Woof
 
closer to 4 bags a day when its colder for me...I'm happy as it would have been cold in here on oil==c I am heating the whole house and have the electric hot water heater off too. normally we would only heat half the house and live in the kitchen and shiver...:confused:
 
1-1/2 bags a day at least when the it`s 15 degrees or less. Other wise the furnace kicks on.
 
Squire lumber is about a 30 minute trek for me. Wouldn't mind hearing about other options in the area.
 
At 1.4F I use 1-1/2 bag set on 3, it will actually turn off in the afternoon.
1200SQ basement and 1500 upstair. Stove is in Basement with ductting, one exit down
and 1 upstair...It will keep 73F.

AT -18F I had to crank it up to 4 to keep 73F and it will burn 2 1/4 bag a day.

My biggest gain is that now the Basement is warm compare to my oil heating..

Sounds normal to me.
 
Heating 1800+ ft with a bag a day. I had one day that I burned 2 bags. The high that day was 6 degrees. That Mt Vernon is a pellet mizer. I have it set at 72 on auto.
 
Running about 2 bags a day now. 3200 sq ft open floor plan. Propane heater rarely ever comes on, have used 80 gallons since November 1st (mainly water heater and some "recovery" as the house warms back up in the afternoon after a work day). Temps in the mid 20's at night.

Have mine set to room temp 71 and around 4 on the feed.
 
Yes 1.5 - 2 bags a day at this point.
 
I've been running 1 1/2 - 2 bags a day leaning more towards 2 on colder days.

It really is. Some days I come home from work, check the hopper and wonder if the keebler elves filled it back up. :p
 
Exactly where I have been. Heating an open 1600sf with Lignetics softies and with my 25-PDVC in C mode I leave it on 1-9 day and night any time it is ≥20° and burn 1 → 1½ bags a day. When it gets <20° I go to 3-9 or 5-9 and burn 1½ → 2¼ bags a day. This keeps my house toasty. Even with daily shutdowns for cleaning my house never see's the underside of 73°.

I'm burning 2 bags a day in a PF 100 pellet furnace with house at 68 - 70.

To the OP - I have a Enviro Milan and 1.5 - 2 bags a day is about right, depending on the weather. If it gets into the 40's a couple days in a row it gets down to about 1 bag a day.

To Jtake or anyone else. What are these Pres -to - logs I keep hearing about???
 
59 bags in January - just about 2 a day. No propane used. :)

Great picture of your set up, my 2 year old would love to throw one of mummy's hairpins into that bucket of pellets, she's really good at that!
