I count 4 rows deep (6 feet @ 16"), guess about 6' wide and 2' high. That's 72 cubic feet or .56 cord.

Hard to say from the pics, but if it really was an 8' by 8' bed, and stacked 2' high you'd have a cord. For some reason the bed looks small to me.

he quotes proper dimensions...to the naked eye it looks short...burnable and seasoned are 2 different animals, but doable...

I think Lukem's math may be close. It looks a bit short to me, but pictures vs. the real thing are 2 different animals. If he is near check the measurement yourself and decide from there. And take your M.M. with you.

I say there is no way that is a cord of wood. Take a tape measure and measure the bed of that truck and the height of the wood.

Yep. Easiest way to figure it out is length x width of the bed, times height of the stacked wood.

Everything is "burnable". Question is what temp does it take to ignite it and keep it burning.

I too am thinking it is short. However, the guy has some impeccable credentials there. lol

You can pretty much count on getting shorted by wood dealers...its just a question of by how much.

The last photo of the wood being dumped looks like it may come close to a full cord. But the other three pics..NO WAY!!
Offer to pay them extra to stack it, they may be less inclined to cheat you. Of course you need to know what a full cord of wood is before you can accuse them of shorting you.

Looks close to a cord. I'm thinking the bed is wider than 6', closer to 8'.
a good 7/8 to 15/16 of a cord IMO .

I know this man personally. He's a great guy and one of the best physical therapists in our area. His resume is acurate and he is very into the enviornment.

As to the firewood: the first year I burned for heat I ran short in February. While talking to a friend, he told me that he had gotten a load of wood from Elmer. He said it was a good "count" and was seasoned. I ordered a load. I remember it being a real good load and probably a bit more than a cord. (I never got it fully stacked as I was moving it and burning at the same time.) I do remember that it burned fine with no hissing or smoldering. My ONLY gripe was that some of the splits were too long for my stove. I'd buy from him again with no problem - but that's me.

Additionally, I do agree that from the pictures, this does look very short of a cord.

That being said, call him and ask your questions. He will tell you straight up the demensions of his truck, etc. I don't know where you live, but if you're local, you probably could see the load before he even delivers it.

Lets look at the possibilities: We'll assume stacked two feet high:
Truck bed 10 x 8 x 2 =160 CF
Truck bed 10 x 7 x 2 =140 CF
Truck bed 9 x 8 x 2 = 144 CF
Truck bed 9 x 7 x 2 = 126 CF
Truck bed 9 x 7.5 x 2 =135 CF
Common small truck bed sizes are 9 and 10 feet. I can not tell from any picture what he has. Widths are seldom 8 feet in a truck that size. My guess is the bed is 7 1/2' wide. So play around with it. I doubt if he is far off. My guess is he knows what he is doing with those credentials.

Truck beds aren't 10 feet. A long box is roughly 8 and a short is 6 usually. I'd be surprised if that box is more than 6 feet wide.

Yep, the full size pickup bed is 8 feet long and just over 5 feet wide. With that said, the bed on that dump looks like it is wider than 5 feet, but it does not look much longer than 8 feet, if at all.

9x7x2 might be possible, but that might be stretching it. However, if that is the actual dimensions, then it would be almost spot on a cord.

My friend, if you look closely, that is more than a regular size pickup truck. Note the DRWs. I would put it at least a "one ton" rated truck, F350, C3500 or whatever Dodge calls their similar size truck. Ten feet, nine feet are common size bed lengths on a truck that size. I have two with nine feet beds and two regular pickups, one with a 6 1/2 ft bed and the other with an 8 foot bed. My SWAG is the truck shown is a nine foot and will measure about 7 1/2 wide. That truck wheel width could possibly be one hundred inches that would put the bed about 90 inches inside. From the picture it is impossible for me to tell exactly but I won't be far off. If anything, I am six inches wide on the bed. Perhaps the person who knows the man will call and determine the actual dimensions of the truck bed.

lol - I just went out and measured the width of the full size, 8 foot, bed on my F350, a 1 ton pickup, before I posted that last one. It came back at 64 inches, just over 5 feet. My friend, I thoroughly understand what a full size pickup bed is. I give the guy the benefit of the doubt because the dump bed looks wider than a full size pickup bed. Does it look 1.5 feet wider than a full size pickup bed, I don't know. Now, the length doesn't look all that different than what my dad had on his dump truck (i.e., 8 feet), but the angle of the photo can also make it deceiving. Proof is in the measurements.

Edit to add, I consider a 1 ton pickup truck regular size. When we start talking F450 and up, then we get into something a little bit bigger than a "regular" sized pickup. My dad's dump truck was a 1 ton, 3500, Chevy that I consider to be a normal size truck with a dump on it. Everything else is a compact/small truck. lol

thats either a 3500 or 4500, chassis cab, with a pretty large bed. Looking at a picture is extremely hard to tell, a half a foot when cubic feet can greatly change a figure.

6.5*8*2 is 104 whereas 6.5*8*2.5 is 130.

I'd say the bed on the DRW dump truck is probably about 7' wide inside by 9' or 10' long abd the wood is stacked about 2' feet high. 126 or 140 cubic feet. I'd say that you'd get a cord from this guy. The flatbed on my F350 is 7x9 and the truck in the picture is about the same size, if not bigger.

I agree it is probably a cord, just reading this guys credentials makes me think he is honest, after all with all he has going for him I am thinking there is no need to be dishonest.

That is what I know of NYS and DOT regulations. Dont know about Alaska and the yukon territories and logging roads in Maine. Without overwide load crap which requires special hauling permits.
