$499 TSC USStove whoew hoew!!

Been getting tired of the bellowing smoke from my garage dragon lately. So I got the fever and drove 40 miles a few towns away this evening to get the last USStove medium pedastal rig for $499.99 http://www.tractorsupply.com/united...tove-with-blower-medium-epa-certified-1098917.

Price was right and most reviews were good. Not to discredit the ole Fisher's by any means. They are a milestone and have did me well for years. Kind of got spoiled after using my little clean burning Quad in the house for the past few seasons in which hardly any smoke at all is ever noticed from outside.

I installed a baffle in my old garage rig the other day like many on here have. It helped some but, I'm just kind of wanting to move on. Kind of feel like the neighbors might get tired of it and complain one of these days. I nearly want to. About the only time I really feel like I've achieved a clean burn is after it's been on overcook for a while which is hotter then I want to run it even with good 2 and 3 year dry hardwood. So grandma's days are limited.

If anyone has one of these new Country Hearth USStove pedastal steeds and would like to share any of your burning curves, tricks, and or disappointments. They'll be welcomed here. Colder then normal here in East TN tonight. Already down to 28*. Rake it up and loader up.

Thanks for the replies. The tunnel of love ehh. Looking at my Quad right now it looks like it's made it's own. Reminds me of the 70's guys hairdo's with the part in the middle.

Noticed on the back of the stove today after unloading it, it says rather largely "Made In China" Oh well, I guess US Stove could mean, it made it back to the US. Hopefully it will make me a good garage heater. Seems to be made well at first glance. Since it's not going to be a 24/7 stove, maybe it will last a while.

I decided to not even install the blower. Figured it would just get full of garage dust and wouldn't ever get used like one on an old JCPenny stove did years ago. Figured if it was new and still in the box, it might be a good selling point someday.

I may leave granny hooked up for a while longer. I've got the last of some doddied white pine I want to get burned so I don't have to burn it in the new one. Tractor Supply had the last of their replacement firebricks for $1.99 each last night. I bought a small box full. Might make a good selling point for Granny.

I'll keep that in mind about the tin foil trick. I got it hooked up tonight and burned about 6 sticks in it. It had some serious stinchy paint smell burning off for a while. Glad it wasn't in my house for that. Was good to be able to raise both garage doors for the occaision. Will probably take a few fires to get it burned on off.

It seemed to do really well. I just hooked it up to the the existing 8" single wall Selkirk that I had Grandma hooked to which is still pretty fresh. I used a 6" to 8" increaser to connect the stack. I had to cut one section of pipe off a few inches. Worked out really well. I have a 8" Air Jet triple wall kit that goes on out through attic and roof. I had a pipe damper previously installed. So thats already their if I were to need it. I might put some new 6" stuff on just right above the stove in a year or 2. But It's good for now.

Got a good bit of creosote out of the pipes before the install. Flaky black stuff. Grandma hadn't been keeping up her oral hygiene to well. But I had been feeding her a good bit of pine here lately. Glad to get it all gone. Would much rather stick with the good 2 and 3 year dry hardwoods. I try to stay away from pine. A relative wanted me to have some pretty bad a few years ago. I know it can be used. Just Me, I'd rather say no.

I've gotta go to the oral surgeon in a few hours to get a tooth pulled. Kind a dread that. Wood pile cord hoarder ehh? I may have to read up on that while recooping. I've got mega cords myself. I'll try to get a few pics of the new rig when I get over the tooth trauma. Cheers!!
