Welcome aboard Lucky, I'm a fellow Buckeye east of you in Diamond. I too am a relative newbee.............have only been here since last October, but I've gained a wealth of knowledge from the great folks here. Not sure what it is about your Mansfield area, but I'm always seeing a bunch of nice saws on your local CL.

Welcome from me as well. Nice find on the saws, glad to see somebody else besides Boog & Dex getting some deals down there.:p You'll get used to that top handle real fast. Nice looking setup you've got going there, great pics too. Glad to have you aboard! Yes, Scotty is right about the nuthouse part too, we have way more fun than we should just heating our families. A C

Welcome.
I had an 029 that we bought new for 15 years. I got a great deal on an 036 and the 029 was sold in a few months for much more than I paid for the 036. The 029 was a great saw, but there was no reason to have it around anymore when i got the 036.

Yeah. Me and Boog try and snag them all up ;)

Greetings Lucky, I am just north of Ashland (prob not to far from you), and there are several of us that are within 1.5 hrs (Boog, Freak, Swag, and several Pellet Folk too)

Nice pics and Nice Saws. I have 3 - 036's and Love them. Though that 372 is on an entire different level. Fast and Fun!! :)

Welcome to the club.

Holy crap! I thought Dex owned every 036 in the Buckeye.

AC, you and I gotta figure out how to get in on the Ohio used saw market...... Seems as if used deals are aplenty there.

Plenty of MS290's for sale here for $300+. Oh look, a MS460! $900, nevermind.

Welcome aboard Lucky, and sweet ride! ;)

Welcome - nice looking place you have there. Don't worry about that tire, it's only flat on the bottom :)

Welcome LL. Love that JD you've got there. Flat tire and all.

Welcome. Nice to see another Gator user here. I just bought a 192 last Friday and so far have been pretty happy with it as well.

Welcome to the Hearth Lucky, and nice pics. Looks and sounds like you enjoy maintaining your property and making use of that wood. I can identify with that! Nice processing and stacks setup. Love the gator/mule vehicles for hauling wood up to the stacks.

Must be the angle of the pic - I can assure you there's a few that have a good lean to them! In the last year, I've only had one outside stack take a tumble. I'm learning and improving with each new stack I start.

Yea, the 029's days may be numbered, even have a coworker that may be interested in it. Is it wrong to think it would make a good first saw for my son? He's soon to be 5 but got to plan ahead with these things:).

Welcome to the club.

Thanks again to all for the warm welcome! My wife doesn't know how I can spend so much time reading about chainsaws and firewood but I keep telling her it's a great community with lots of good, knowledgeable folks. That was based on everything I've read before posting and it's nice to experience it first hand.

Dex - I'm less than a 1/2 hour from Ashland with a brother-in-law from Savannah. Took some college classes at AU and stop at the Fin when I'm in the area.

Never to early to plan ahead. I have a little 170 that my Son will soon get his turn at. He has been helping split and stack for awhile and loves it. Also helps Every time I carry wood downstairs.

Just have to take the Slow and Safe approach. I remember running saws when I was really young. I also remember a friend getting his knee shredded when he fell, while running a saw :( Slow and Safe

Keep that young man of yours workin and teaching him, and he will surely follow in your footsteps :)

As for the "Fin", I am not allowed there alone anymore :( Wife has to go :(

I would think the 029 would be a little heavy and more powerful than the ideal saw for a youngster to start out with. I have teenage daughters that I am going to start out cutting this summer. Figured to use the 024/025 size saws to teach them the fundamentals with, then slowly move them up from there.

Thanks AJS56 - I do love spending hours toiling around our farmstead! Just wished I had more free time to do it more often.

The gator has surpassed my expectations many times over. Bought it used with low hours 4 years ago and it has hauled all kinds of stuff. It's powered by the 10 HP Kawasaki motor so it lacks power when loaded down but always gets the job done. Very versatile and I love having the electric actuated dump bed. It's like a mini-dump truck!

Good call about the weight. I figured a minimum of at least 10 years until he started cutting but figured it would also be a matter of his "maturity"
and respect for the equipment regardless of his age. Right now he likes to help for brief moments. Usually has more fun finding bugs underneath the rounds that I pick up to split!

They put another one in Canton much closer to me. I gotta be careful now.
