I just checked out SIB's website and he's taking orders for MWP Softies for April. No pricing is listed, but his current price for the blend is $224 when paying cash, so the softies will be more than the $235 we paid last year.

Yea when I called last week, he noted that they ended the year last year at 259 but said he wasn't sure what they would be this year. I got my name on the list for two tons. Might change to one if they are going to start at 259.... Can't see paying more than $20 more per ton when the blend are working just fine.

I'm not sure I'll even buy any at that price. If I do, it won't be any more than 1 ton.

I have just over a ton in the Basement if he goes up on the product and charges for the delivery, well I doubt Ill be buying again ! For My Business I went to Home Depot and bought Ma&Pa Moose for 198 they work just fine I think for next year I will go with a mix maybe Spruce Pointe and LeCreates and throw a ton of something else in !While @ Lowes I saw Greene teams for 279 no deal there !

He is charging for delivery now. Amount he charges depends on distance.

I really like doing business with Steve, but at at least $259 (plus potential delivery fee) I may reconsider the 6 tons I have on pre-order. Especially since I only paid $235 per ton for the ones I am burning now.

Yeaahhhh, I have been burning the MWP soft for the last 2 months with good results; or so I thought. Ash was a bit much and glass dirtied quick, but ash volume does not bother my stove and the glass wiped clean easily on a daily basis, stove cleaning was easy enough too as all the built up ash (and there was more than any other year) brushed off easily: again no real worries there. Heat was above average.

All was OK until last Friday when I cleaned the firebox, ash pan and exhaust up to point of clean out T. For the heck of it, I popped in a few bags of the leftover Spruce Pointes from last year. This was the first time burning Spruce Pointe this season. Sorry to say that the Spruce trounced the MWP soft to the point of having to turn my stove down on Saturday and Sunday evenings when it was roasting us out while at the same time we had below zero deg wind chill and howling wind outside. MWP would not have kept up like these did. Also, after 4 days, the glass was almost as clean as just after the cleaning and ash volume was below half of what I have been getting.

Bottom line is that I would not pay more than 235-245 max for the MWP soft. The batches I have don't hold up against the big boys for the real cold weather.

Yeah, well I'm pretty relaxed, anyhoo. EBS will deliver free, if it comes to that, ton price may be a bit more, but they will take back bad bags, deliver how many I want at a time, put them closer than where Steve could get them. A few others around as well, went with him last year because the price was right. When he delivered them, one of the things he said, was, "I'll NEVER charge for delivery".

No horse in this race here as SIB does not deliver to my area. I am just putting in my 2 pennies on the performance of the product in relation to pricing. Not bad but not great either.

The only other place that carries the MWP softies is Great Works Biofuels and their price is the same as SIB.

Thats where I get mine. Spoke with Dave yesterday. He is getting away from Spruce Pointe due to ongoing shipping damage and testing a few other brands to offer this year.

SubSailor at Lowes Auburn, As far as Steve i really like spending my money with him, honest and friendly! That being said if you can buy better for a few dollars more it only makes sense to go with the better grade i guess we all will have to wait and see which way the wind blows !

That's where I got my Spruces. My sister got some North Country fom them on Monday and they are a 100% softwood from Canada. Stealing a couple bags from her to try out. Don't know the price though. They are pretty nice people over at Great Works.

yea, well dealers are just starting now to get the Spring Pricing from the producers, so its pretty early, but what I am seeing so far is not terribly positive. The few prices we have gotten so far show no real price reductions, so, sadly, its unlikely the end user will either....but Imust stress that its still early, and all prices arent in yet....

That's better. You said HD originally, that's why I questioned it.

I too bought pellets from Great Works last year. 3 tons of Granules LGs. I love'em. Dave dropped them off and I sent him a check. Good service. Any idea on the pellets he's gonna be selling this year. Was thinking about getting some Spruce Points, if no other decent pellets. I'd be happy getting the LGs again. He's $15 a ton cheaper than www.woodpellets.com.

Don't want to hijack the thread, but Great Works will still have the MWP soft. Spoke with Dave for a while yesterday. He ended the season at 259 I think and no pricing yet for this year.

He is most likely dropping the Spruce Point due to excess travel damage that has been going on for a while now. He is testing a few replacements and leaning toward North Country. He is also considering LaCrete and another that I cannot recall.

Been wanting to try some LaCretes but they are a little pricey. SMRF is getting 319$ a ton. That's crazy.

I'd like to try them or Spruce Pointe but I won't pay that much. I'll just buy MWP blend and crank the stove up.

Sub the way things are going it looks like MWPs are going to run almost as much as the LeCreates ! I was thinking I may pick up 4 bags and after cleaning the stove give them a whirl !

I have no complaints with the MWP softies and I have never burned Lacretes, but the feeling I get based on comments here are the Lacretes are better. I won't pay $300 for a ton of pellets. I can almost buy 2 tons of something else for that much money, so I'll do that and crank the stove. A few extra cleanings and little more ash is nothing.
