Display Model - Purchase

Just after I installed my stove, I wandered back into the store and noticed the floor model was gone. Turns out it's now in my living room. And its missing gaskets and other nonsense. No more floor models for me.

I bought my T5 off the floor after it was used in the store as a demo for 1 year, no issues what so ever.... got a good deal on it as well.

Just look it over real good. Really not a lot that can go wrong with a big steel box. Not sure if they can/will move on price because most HD pricing comes from corporate but you certainly can't be hurt by asking. Especially if there is something missing like the legs, blower, etc...

A set of legs is rather inexpensive and potentially free because the stove typically comes with both options so there has to be many pedistal users holding onto a box of cast legs - maybe someone here. I would check ebay?

If it is the floor model and has been burned at all I would expect a discount, especially this time of year as demand should be in your favor. Generally speaking if I pay full price, I expect a new unit not used.

Now if the floor model is just sitting there gathering dust I'd ask for a discount but not really expect to get it unless it is missing parts (which it sounds like this one is missing the legs it came with).

Everything can be a negotiation and being reasonable (having some basis to ask for a discount) can improve your success. I.e. the approach of "Since it is missing the legs that I want and they come with the stove normally, how about $x off your asking price?" might work. I wouldn't expect a 50% discount though

I would be aware of transportation damage if it is not crated, and/or moved around the store.

a floor model unit from HD is not going to be a "burned" unit. while its not unusual for a flor unit to be missing a part (usually a small item) we cover this within reason, if it was a "stripped" unit as in missing all the guts its a different story, but a leg set or a spring handle or such i'd cover under warranty

Ha - there you go - free legs from the factory. Now go use the lack of legs as a negotiation tool and report back as to the great price you got for the stove.

of course the flip side of that is if the store calls for them we would ship them to the store as well.
