I've seen a flier up at the local grocer for a while advertising red oak logs for sale. Called them up finally out of curiosity. They are asking $85/cord, 10 minimum. 8' logs.

Good price? Bad? Average?

Yes stacked and delivered. Might not be so bad.

That's good compared to around here.

That's a good deal. IMO. I got my last load for $500 and got about 7 cord out of it (avg 6-8 cord loads).

Mine was all Ash (one Pignut Hickory tree).

Anything from $50-$90 a cord log load is a deal. It's delivered and dropped in your specified location. Doesn't get much easier.

Going rate is $100 cord around here although most people tell me they get about a cord less than advertised so your essentially paying aboput $125 cord. Not a good deal here when you can get split cords for $135/$150 all day long. I scrounged two cords of ash and maple for free but other than that Im buying to get another year ahead.

weatherguy: You've got yourself a great deal if you're getting csd @ $135 - 150/cord. Going rates around NE Mass where I am range from $200 - 325/cord csd depending on the seller. I'm going the grapple load log length route this year at a cost of approximately $100/cord delivered for 6 - 8 cord loads.

Shane, that is probably a decent price for oak in your area.
