On heat level 1 it can be tough to tell, but at heat level 4 or 5 there's no mistaking the volume of air with the blower switch "on" vs the small amount of flow due to convection when blower is "off". I never run it with the fan off. The only times it's ended up in the off position is if I hit the button by mistake.

It does not come on until the stove is about 120 degrees and you can hear the fan turn on.how the heLL do you know if the fan is off or on??
