My son is doing a live internet presentation for MSFT for Fusion for Kinect for Windows at the Engadget
conference in SFA on Saturday between 4 and 4:30. Fusion is pretty amazing - real time 3D rendering at extremely low cost. Very cool.

For Microsoft at the main campus in Redmond, Wa, Travels for them a bit. Is a Senior Project Manager; among other responsibilities, works on Fusion with research teams in Redmond, Cambridge, Eng and Bejing. Absolutely loves his job. Quite excited about the potential of Kinect for Windows, and Fusion.

The Cambridge research group first developed Fusion. Three research groups working on it now. There is a short demo online my son did of it early stage as applied to Kinect, from a MSFT conference in October 2012. He did presentations of it along with the research team at the TECH FEST at MSFT last week, and announced that it would be included in the SDK (software development kit) in the future, which has developers happy. The upcoming presentation will be his first live internet demo.

This is the same son who is Sr design engineer for the Groovik's Cube, a neat interactive interpretation of the Rubik's cube, that will soon be touring museum's around the world as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Rubik's cube.

The video is one of three points at the bottom of that date's announcement.

Not hard to tell I'm not NEARLY as comfortable around computers as my children.

Big surprise at the conference. They announced they are releasing Fusion with the new SDK update on MONDAY! Way before anyone expected. That should have developers excited. And we should see useful applications that are developed with it quite soon. My guess is that with the speed this team is moving we will be seeing meaningful applications for everyday interaction in windows and office with our computers in under two years. Just a guess...One of this teams primary objectives is to make computers more user friendly and accessable.
