. . . . . is to spoil their grandchildren right?

Here is Alex, my 3 1/2 y/o grandson on an early birthday present:

For the life of me I couldn't talk him into a red helmet to save my life. Under the jersey is a Fox Race Armor chest protector, elbow pads, shin guards, etc.

Nice thing about this little Honda 50 is that it has a throttle limiter so I can keep him going slow until he gets the hang of things.

That is awesome. Thats how my nephews, and thier kids started out, the oldest is in his early 40's and is the top of his class, the others are good, but Steve spanks them evry time

Good for you in terms of all that protection and limiting the throttle . . . I cannot tell you how often we've seen some idiotic parent up here let their young child drive their full sized 500 or even larger ATV around their yard unsupervised and without any protection.

Jake,

I am not surprised by that at all. Some folks won't learn until they have to bury a loved one. As they say, "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes."

Where was a grandparent like you when I was that age? Awesome.

I hope his parents are OK with it!

Yep... My Parents spoil my Children to death.

But the big purchases like the Dirt bikes, ATV's, Etc, I somehow have to buy? :( My son had his PW-50 at 9 months (I couldn't resist!) I have been riding since I was 4 though. So it's in my family's blood.

Your grandson is gonna remember this for forever. Your an awesome Grandparent and safety should always be in the forefront of everyone's mind. He definitely looks like one happy little boy

Tat is amazingly nice of you...very generous and kind! He will remember that forever...

By the way, would you like to adopt a 32 year old grandchild? I will Do lots of chores and take care of you when you are older....lol

We are taking him to a local private MX track (pay by the day) that has a separate track for smaller kids. But first I have to go to the dealer and pick up my new TRX400X so that I can ride along beside him.

Answer to the first question is YES;) My kids think I have gotten to soft but I figure I was too hard on them, so I error on the side of caution now. I love my grand kids!

I have pics of my bro and I riding in an electric car up and down our street - when we were 6 and 7.
This was about 1959 or so.
Not much has changed except the car was made of plywood as opposed to plastic today....

Some of the neighbors grand children run up and down our street with their electric cars and motorcycles.

Quick video of Alex riding at the local track today:

[/URL]

We rode for 2 1/2 hours and he fell asleep on the ride home. He had a fit when he woke up and found out I had already washed his bike. I had told him before he fell asleep that we had to wash the bikes when we got home. So of course we had to go outside and wash his bike again. Good times. My son Andrew (Alex's father) is sitting on the quad in the video. He kept stalling it and was blaming it on the clutch.

I couldn't seem to get the video to play but the story put me in mind of my little guy's first day and ride. Here he is in the back seat about 2 minutes after we left.

Edited the post with an updated link, should work this time.

Cracked me up when he had a fit because he didn't get to wash his bike while I was washing the quad.
