This is my dog Ras enjoying the hot seat. When ever im preparing the fire he always has his head in the way sniffing the fire in anticipation. Then he claims the hot seat....i wouldn't have it any other way.....if the fire wasnt relaxing enough, seeing your best mate in absolute heaven in front of the fire has got to be the best feeling....

Nice looking dog. Let see some pics of what scrounging in Melbourne looks like.

I don't know much about wine, but, aren't you supposed to keep that stuff cool?

You chill white wine. Red wine should be room temp. They should be in a somewhat humid environment though, lest the cork dries out.
That dog looks way to big for that fireplace.

That is for serving. Aging wine should not be exposed to high temps. However, if it's not going to be in the rack that long then it's not an issue (our wine rack contents get rotated pretty often :) )

In fact, chilling red wine is not unheard of either. Humidity prevents "corking", but storing wine on its side keeps the cork wetted anyway.

Agreed

Ok wine for the women, but where's the beer?

Couple years ago my dog burned the heck out of his tail against my stove and since then he won't go within 5ft of the "owwie box" hahaha.

yeah, fair call on the wine. I should re locate to a different room. Up untill recently it has been really hot in melbourne so the house was being kept at much lower temps with the a/c.

And I didn't notice the perspective on that photo is way out....the dog is actually a small to medium sized dog, and that wood heater fits logs around 60cm in length..

the blackwood im burning from my property has only been drying for 12 months and its burning great!!

Here are some photos of how i get probably 70% of my wood....Having the ute allows me to be an "opportunistic scrounger" and often just driving around I will come across some wood and load it in.

When i'm lucky I get asked to a friends house or a relatives and I get access to larger quantities similar to these...I am about to go to my uncles property for a few ute loads of chopped red gum.

So that red thing is a newer El Camino?

referring to the car? Its a locally made ford falcon ute. its my old work car. sorry if I annoy anyone, but Australian made fords are really low quality cars. i've had a german made ford before and that was a different story, and i suspect the US fords are a lot better...but the 2 Australian made fords i've had were cheap, they fell apart, the didn't run nice, things broke. just cheap..

but i suspect the El Camino is going to be a GM Holden ute sent over and badged as a Chevy? Better build quality and very popular with younger guys cuz they have grunt, get sideways easy and are easy to modify..
