Hi, a co-worker of mine is interested in buying my 10 yr old stove, if I can give him a good price. I've put over $350 worth of new parts in it this season (convection blower, ignitor, thermocouple, door gasket), I would include the hearth pad and thermostat. Is $600 a fair price? I've no idea what it's worth. Look on Craig's List but there wasn't much in the way of used Quadrafires. Thanks!

That is very fair.

Eric

Or you could put $1,000.00 or best offer.

Since he's a co-worker I'd rather just give him a set price that he can accept or decide to look elsewhere. If he doesn't buy it I could post it on Craig's list for the $1000 or best offer. But, I'm thinking a for-sure sale is better than a might get an offer off Craig's list.

Sorry, I was referring to listing it on Craigslist only. For a co-worker I would sell it for as cheap price as you feel comfortable with. I would sell with an understanding that it is an "as is" sale only. Sometimes selling to a friend is not a good idea for obvious reasons.

Why are you selling it? If you think it's on it's way to the bone yard or even in good shape, I would shy away from selling it to a co-worker or friend because the old saying "Don't mix money with friends or family" happens to be a very smart way to conduct yourself.

Make sure you show it running etc so when it craps out hes not pissed at you. Make him come over and sweat in front of it for a while.

He's looking for one for the cottage he just bought on the Cape that doesn't have central heat and I'm looking for excuse to by a Harman. It works fine now.

I agree with Eric. Even for a friend that is Very fair.

I would go around $1,000. Is the Hearth pad a ore made job? (Bought when you purchased stove?) if so, thAts $175-$350 right there. Any venting going with it?

The pad was bought from dealer with stove but I made the mistake of getting a metal edge which has rusted some from getting wet when I washed the floor around it over the past years. No venting with it, side wall venting so it is just 3' of piping & figure he's better off getting new. Glad to hear it is fair price & if he decides not to buy I might be able to get more than the $600. Off to look at Harman this weekend!
