let me know if you strike out on the manual. I have two different versions. the latest revision is the one you want--it allows reasonable floor protection without any R-value = 1.x or such nonsense. so you can use one layer of cement board and tile...if you have built-up floor in the install location.

No manual yet. But I was wondering just how long this stove should burn for and the proper way of getting the longest burn time. Anyone have any experience with this stove?
I have learned that it wants logs every few hours. I am in CO and our wood is not high-density or high-energy-density like back east.
regardless of how I throttle the intake air, there is rarely much of anything left in the AM (never flames). also, I have learned that with just about ANY amount of coals (even one small, cubic-centimeter sized piece) I can add kindling, wood on top of that and it will relight. I usually stack(stoke) as mentioned, open the air and close the door. I make coffee and return. if the stack of kindling and wood is now warmed up and maybe even smoking (or sometimes it has lit to flames), I open the ash door (probably a risky move). the air from the bottom usually causes good flames within minutes. I NEVER LEAVE THE IMMEDIATE AREA OF THE STOVE WITH THE ASH DOOR OPEN--I BELIEVE IT COULD QUICKLY AND SEVERELY OVERFIRE IF FORGOTTEN
. depending on how it looks, I usually close the ash door and crack the main door and once hot, return it to normal, catalyzed operation.
YOU PROBABLY NEED THE MANUAL TO USE THIS STOVE. I can send one if you private message me with your email (or put it here in public if you don't care).
the manual basically says:
load and light--paper, kindling, larger wood with BYPASS PULLED OUT, AIR ON FULL.
leave with door cracked open about 1/2 inch until buring well
close door, watch flames--they drop down some.
if hot, close cat (bypass in). flames will drop more. if it fills with smoke and flames go out, you were too fast to close bypass (it may also back-puff, I have noticed, if you do this).
manual offers other notes on loading, reloading, breaking in, etc.

Can someone tell me where I can find the manual for this stove (Jotul Model Series 8 AP)? I looked at the Jotul site and couldn't find one!
