Hello there fellow lumber jacks and weekend wood warriors! so recently i started collecting some wood for the stove i will be getting installed for this coming winter! i lucked out with some good contacts and got in with the neighbour who happens to have a fair anount of property for his hobbie farm|! I CSS the wood i could get outta his field as it was just a wet mess and i tore up my lawn( his feilds beside my house lol) getting in and out! so i have gotten wood here and there off my property and like i said have some other wood on the back burner i have lined up once things dry up! WELL ladies and gents i happen to knoe someone who knew a guy who knows a girl yadda yadda yadda who knew where some wood was for cheap!

Well that fell through lol but it worked out awesome! i drove 45 mins to get this cheap wood and it was a lost cause, however i was in the county where my buddie lives so i got together with him( works for a farm) well he told me they just plowed over dozens of trees to make there fields bigger! we drove out there and i was just stoked what i found! So i took the chance today as i am working tonight to go get a start at it! I think i could be there friday sat sun cutting the rest and hauling it back to my place 45 mins away but i am borrowing a trailer so it will be well worth the trips! i would like someone to let me know what type of trees i have here and roughly how much wood is here! seems like alot of wood to me so i am happy as can be!

Yeah if I can cut and haul all this away in these couple days and there is time I will move to the next field where there is tons more lol! I have to have the wood home before they start planting or I can't drive in to get it! Need reinforcements lol

Wow good luck with that! Cut it to max length you can handle then process it at home.. You need to hire someone with a strong back and weak mind ;)

Lots & lots of wood.
Thinking it's elm, might be some maple there too.

Great score!

Load number two.... What a hard way to make an easy living!
WTG Sparky! That's what I was thinking cut them big as you can handle then process them at home. This will maximize your total take.. Looks like some great wood too!

Pics to come of the total haul of the weekend! I am just swamped, alot of work but man I got alot of wood in the lane way!

Helllo folks, all said and done this is the wood i took away this weekend from my first " mother haul". All the long lengths and a bit of smaller log lengths still have to be CSS but that can be done few hours after work each night and weekends! I should have a better handle on cutting of these logs, with a sharp chain and the oiler cranked up on this 372xp it cuts right through these logs in no time!

Great score!

That is a bunch of wood!

I see a sawbuck in your future!

Lots of Basswood there. Better get 4X more than you think you need. It burns fast and makes little heat. On the other hand you have got a lifetime supply of kindling.

Well Ray, I got half of what is required... With your strong back, perhaps you can help him better than I can though.

Dammit, so if this is all basswood does this mean is wasn't really
Worth it to spend a few days getting it! I got a whack of it and am hoping that between this wood and the poppler and maple and birch I have it will be good for the next 2 years! I have more wood
I am going to acquire! Someone beat me to the wood
Pile and I cut one remaining round left behind from
What the guy didn't take, but I believe he knew what he was after and took all the good hard wood! When I find that round I will post a pick and get a wood I.D on it!

It's okay to burn some bass wood. Just don't try for an overnight burn with it.

So that's a confirmation that its all basswood? I will learn these things eventually! U learn from your mistakes! Either way I got a pile of wood for free lol
