2 loads so far and at least one more. Each load is 6' wide by 3' of 12' logs. Mostly birch with some pine today.

Got the first load chopped up.

Nice tree fairy :)
1.7 +/- cords per load
5 ± cords.

Did you say delivered "FREE" ?
I'd say "spoiled" .

Split that birch soon ;)

nice!

You guys live in a fairy-land firewood world compared to here. Maybe I should move to NE... well, wait a minute, I only pay $1000 a year in property taxes here for my house and acreage, and its a lot warmer here in winter than in NE.

Here property taxes vary quite a bit from town to town. I pay 5600 !!! but an equivalent house in some of the neighboring towns would be under 2k.

That's right, free. Only way to go in my mind. I used to do the CL scrounge thing but got tired of ridiculous demands and having to hurry or risk losing a scrounge. Anyone that scrounges ought to try calling a few local tree guys. The guy that gave me this wood has contacts all over town. The closest to the job site gets the wood. He used to deliver it all cut to length but he has a tractor with a grapple now so I get log length wood. But he's been delivering more hardwood so I can't complain.

Bad-a$$. Free on-top of Delivered Firewood.

Nice! That'll keep ya warm...next season?? I know the RIver Birch I got last summer dried real quick...

That's the only thing that's been keeping me from calling....having to take some wood that I don't really want, or already have plenty of. There probably would be guys on his list that get only the top-tier stuff, and I would have to eat some crapwood. Sure would save me a lot of time and work, though...

I might have to burn some of it next spring. I used to be two years ahead but when I got my wood boiler I stopped burning oil and doubled my wood consumption. Should be back ahead two years by the end of the summer.

I do end up with a lot of pine but it all burns. And even though I burn more wood overall it's easier to have the wood dropped off then cutting my own trees.

Very nice, indeed.

Not gonna work here.
The wood is sold to sellers or the tree guys are wood cutter/sellers.
Lots more of a demand for wood here though.

Maybe at best I could get some cottonwood, but I doubt that would be very often :)

Sweet. Be sure to split that birch very soon else it rots from the inside out.

Stop it! Stop posting all those photos of nice BTU firewood logs being delivered to your place... for for for... free by the trailer load.

It just ain't fair! *sniff* Whaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!! :( I want free firewood logs delivered by the trailer load to my house... but you cannot get anyone to do that around here.

Made that mistake here last year cutting a few birches on my property. Left them in rounds and they were half rotted out this spring.
Birch is the exact opposite of locust when it comes to shelf life. You do need it split and dry or it will be rotted almost instantly.
